and speed as it nears the Florida
Coastline.

the hurricane to a category three, with
top winds right now of 115 miles per
hour.

And as this late video from Key West
shows, waters are already rising ahead
of Wilma's arrival.

The storm should make landfall along
Florida's southwest coast right around

GRAPHIC=Hendrick Plane Crash Tomorrow marks an unhappy anniversary

for a prominent NASCAR family.

October 2004 It was on October 24th of last year

that a private plane owned by Hendrick
Motorsports went down on Bull Mountain
in Patrick County, about seven miles
from the Blue Ridge Airport.

The plane was bringing Hendrick team
and family members to Martinsville for
the race that day. The 10 people on
board were all killed.

When team driver Jeff Gordon won
today's race, he was quick to remember
the loss of a year ago.

Roanoke landmark.

VO-NAT Three months ago the H and C sign

was lifted from its perch and taken
down for refurbishing.

Two months later it was back up,
but the facelift hasn't been fully
appreciated because the sign hasn't
been re-lit.

But all is now ready, so mark
your calendars. The H and C sign will
once again light up the Roanoke skyline
on November 14th.

animals came into town today from the
Gulf Coast.

60 dogs and cats from Slidell,
Louisiana and *Picayune* Picky-yoon
Mississippi rolled into Salem this
afternoon.

Directors at the animal shelter
hope they will be adopted and sent
right back out with their new owners.

Some of the displaced dogs have
already gone to the Lynchburg Animal
Shelter, the Great Dane Rescue, and
with a Pitbull Rescue.

There are plenty more cats and
dogs to go around and staff hope there

will be plenty of loving homes for the
animals in our region.

homecoming game.

School officials say 20-year-old
Richard Thomas Rose was apparently
struck by a piece of a goal post after
students tore it down.

The junior basketball player was
pronounced dead at a hospital.

American was aboard a Nigerian jetliner
that crashed just minutes after
takeoff.

All 117-passengers and crew on
the Boeing 737 are feared dead.

Most are believed to be
Nigerians.

Officials found the wreckage in a
wooded area about 30 miles north of
Lagos.

They say the aircraft was partly
submerged in the ground and broken into
several pieces.

Investigators are searching for
the plane's flight data recorders to
help determine the cause of the crash.

They do NOT believe it was
terrorist-related.

As expected the Colts beat the
Texans to remain the only unbeaten,

long the Skins have struggled to score
points with just 83 in their first 5
games. Today against the 49ers the
Redskins rung up 52. Clinton Portis
scored three TDs.

And Mark Brunell threw three
touchdown passes complenting 13 of his
20 passes for 252 yards.

Santana Moss had over 110 yards
in catches and this TD, while big Mike
Sellers also caught two TD passes as
the Skins win 52-to-17.

The Vikings got off the Love boat
and decided to take their frustrations
out on Brett Favre's car.

It really wasn't his car, but
this 56 yard Paul Edinger field goal as
time expired was real as the Vikes beat

the Packers 23-to-20.

In Philly, the Chargers were
about to take a 10 point lead on the
Eagles with this field goal, but
instead Nate Keeding's kick was blocked
and returned 65 yards for a score by
Matt Ware. The Eagles win it 20-to-17.

In the western end of
Pennsylvania - the Steelers got this TD
from rookie Heath Miller out of UVa via
Honaker to help them bounce back and
beat the Bengals 27-to-13 in a key
battle of AFC North teams.
