A HURRICANE WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR

to board up as best I can."

AFTER LINGERING OVER THE YUCATAN
PENINSULA, HURRICANE WILMA IS NOW
MOVING INTO THE GULF OF MEXICO ...
WHERE FORECASTERS SAY IT WILL LIKELY
STRENGTHEN A BIT BEFORE WEAKENING
AGAIN.

(SOT: MAX MAYFIELD/NATIONAL HURRICANE

"The most likely scenario is for it to
be a Category 2 hurricane as it
approaches Florida."

WILMA HAS ALREADY POUNDED MEXICO'S
CARIBBEAN COASTLINE, DAMAGING RESORT
HOTELS AND FLOODING STREETS. SEVERAL
PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED AND TOURISTS
REMAIN STRANDED.

DESPITE THE WARNINGS, MANY STORM-WEARY
RESIDENTS HERE IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA ARE
STILL DEBATING WHETHER TO RIDE OUT THE
STORM AT HOME OR HEAD FOR HIGHER
GROUND.

"I think it's just like throwing dice,

you're damned if you do, damned if you
don't"

SEVEN HURRICANES HAVE HIT OR SIDESWIPED
THE STATE SINCE AUGUST 2004.

MANY FLORIDIANS SAY THEY'RE NOT

have a business that has to be

HURRICANE FATIGUE CAN ALSO BE FOUND

EVACUATION IS IN EFFECT -- AND SO IS
COMPLACENCY.

MOVING INTO THE GULF OF MEXICO ...
WHERE FORECASTERS SAY IT WILL LIKELY
STRENGTHEN A BIT BEFORE WEAKENING
