strength after roaring through Florida
and claiming at least one life.

Meantime, millions of homes and
businesses are without power.
Significant damage is being
reported throughout the southern
half of the state.
Roofs have been ripped off,
mobile homes destroyed, and downed
trees and power lines are cluttering

At least one hospital was damaged
so badly that patients are being
evacuated.
And, in Fort Lauderdale and
downtown Miami, broken windows from
skyscrapers litter some streets and
sidewalks.

investigating a deadly school bus
crash.

A police spokeswoman says a car
crossed a double yellow line and hit
the bus head on shortly before seven
this morning.
The car then spun to the back of
the bus and caught fire.
The bus was headed to Kellum High
School at the time.
The driver of the car was
pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger was airlifted to a
Norfolk hospital.
Ten students on the bus and the
bus driver suffered minor injuries.

a bit more accessible for a community
ravaged by Katrina.

County gathered fire and rescue
supplies- in addition to a fire truck
and ambulance to send to Hancock,
Mississippi.
The fire and rescue department
there lost seven of its eight trucks to
the storm.
These vehicles had been retired

sitting around, so the county donated
them to a good cause.
