Hurricane Wilma made landfall as a
strong Category Three storm today,
hitting Florida hard with 125- mile-
per- hour winds.

Those winds have since diminished,
and Wilma's been downgraded to a
category two hurricane.

*CG locator Naples, FL Wilma is Florida's eighth hurricane
in 15- months.

The storm knocked out power to nearly
two and a half million homes and
businesses, as it dashed across the
state toward Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

So far, the storm is blamed for at
least one death in Florida.

Authorities say a man was killed when
he was hit by a falling tree.

Jennifer Donelan is in Naples,
Florida this afternoon and she joins us
now with an update.

takes.

(TAKE INSERT vo: start with combat pix

MORE THAN SIXTEEN-HUNDRED AMERICAN
SOLDIERS HAVE DIED IN COMBAT, SINCE THE

OFF- AND-ON ONSLAUGHT OF SUICIDE
BOMBERS, RELIGIOUS EXTREMISTS,
EX-SADDAM LOYALISTS AND COMMON
CRIMINALS THAT WORK FOR ANYONE WHO PAYS
THEM.

Nearly three-hundred more american
troops died from non-combat acts, and
forty-eight took their own lives, in
the relentless pressure cooker of
post-invasion Iraq.

(vo: car bomb latest)

THE VIOLENCE DWINDLES FOR DAYS OR WEEKS
AT A TIME, BUT IT ALWAYS SEEMS TO COME
BACK. A SURGE IN THE PAST COUPLE DAYS

HAS KILLED MORE THAN FORTY IRAQIS.

to those times when we would be able to
turn over areas to the iraqi security

LEAVING THIS BATTLEGROUND BEHIND.
