three men who robbed the Fas-Mart on
Main Street just after 10 o-clock last
night.
Police say two of the suspects
were armed with handguns, the other had
what appeared to be a shotgun.
The suspects fled on foot towards
the North Carolina state line.

say they do have food and water, but
that it's hot and dirty and now people
are beginning to get sick.

expect a bigger bill this winter....and
it's not just because its cold outside.

Corporation Commission for a 6-point-2
percent fuel rate increase.
If approved, the average
residential bill would rise by
three-dollars and 65-cents a month.
Company officials said they
need the increase to meet the rise in
the cost of coal, which is used to

and rescue services more accessible to
them.

Departments from around Botetourt
County gathered fire and rescue
supplies- in addition to a fire truck
and ambulance to send to Hancock,
Mississippi.
The fire and rescue department
there lost seven of its eight trucks to
the storm.
These vehicles had been retired
through normal attrition, and were just
sitting around, so the county donated
them to a good cause.

Pulaski County for a jail escapee.
Yesterday 30 year old Timothy
Allen Sarver was transported to the
courthouse, along with 11 other inmates
from the New River Valley Regional
Jail.
He was last seen in the downtown
area wearing a light colored shirt.
He's white, 6-feet-2, with short
reddish hair.
Sarver was in jail on bad checks
charges, and had been involved in a
burglary.

dinner.

Officials say the fire
broke out shortly before five yesterday
evening during renovation work on the
school's dining hall.
No one was injured and the fire
caused no structural damage.
The school's traditional
"evening meal," however, was delayed
until all of the smoke cleared.

County injured seven people.
State Police say it happened
Sunday night near the
Henry/Pittsylvania County line.
Police say 30-year-old Leslie W
Shelton tried to pass another vehicle
and lost control.
Her S-U-V skidded across 2 lanes,
hit a guardrail and flipped over.
Shelton and six passengers were
injured and taken to Danville Regional
Hospital.
Shelton is charged with
reckless driving.

Virginia Tech announced the president's
suite and the two lower outdoor clubs
will be open Thursday night.
However, the individual luxury
suites are still not ready.
It doesn't look like they
will be by the end of the season.
