judge.

She's been facing stiff opposition
and mounting criticism about her
qualifications.

The Senate's top Democrat Harry Reid
says Miers was the victim of the
"radical right."

However, the White House says Miers'
withdrawal had nothing to do with the
criticism-- it was because of efforts
by Congress to get access to internal
documents about her role as White House
counsel.

President Bush said he reluctantly
accepted Miers' withdrawal-- and has
pledged to fill the vacancy in a timely
manner.

that favors construction of stadiums at
each high school.

But this morning, the board
decided not to issue a stronger
statement advocating seperate stadiums.

residents who are again lining up at
gas stations today.

lines for necessities like food, water,
and fuel.

However, officials say a fuel depot
that supplies gas stations across South
Florida has most of its power back.

violation and leading police in a high
speed chase.

Police say Keeling was part of an

apartment complex where his daughter
was murdered.

Bennett and his attorney claim
the conditions at the apartment were
unsafe.

They say the exterior lighting

Police say a man entered through
her apartment at night, raped her and
killed her.

Drew Planten of Raleigh was
arrested last week and charged with
first degree murder.
