investigating a stabbing that occured
around 1:30 yesterday morning at the
Foxridge Apartment Complex.

The victim, Michael McDonald, was
stabbed in the leg.

He told police he had been
arguing with Ryan Hysong of Blacksburg
when he was struck with an unknown
object.

Hysong then ran back to his
apartment and returned with a 12 gauge
shotgun.

However, the shotgun was quickly
taken away before police arrived.

Police did recover a shotgun and
a pocket knife from Hysong's apartment.

Officials say alcohol was a
factor.

investigating a stabbing that occured
around 1:30 Sunday morning at the
Foxridge Apartment Complex.

The victim, Michael McDonald, was
stabbed in the leg.

He told police he had been
arguing with Ryan Hysong of Blacksburg
when he was struck by an unknown
object.

Hysong then ran back to his
apartment and returned with a 12 gauge
shotgun.

However, the shotgun was quickly
taken away before police arrived.

Police did recover a shotgun and
a pocket knife from Hysong's apartment.

Officials say alcohol was a
factor.

mess out of the morning commute in
Philadelphia.

Just after midnight, thousands of
city transit workers went on strike--
bringing buses, subways, and trolleys
to a halt.

The transport workers union and the
Southeastern Pennsylvania
Transportation Authority are at odds
over wages, work rules, and health
care.

So far, no new negotiations are
scheduled.

researchers is hoping to open up the
entire sky for viewing.

The researchers are building a
telescope in the remote mountains of
Asheville, North Carolina.

The telescope will be able to
scan the entire sky 24 hours a day,
seven days a week through the use of
radio waves from space.

They're hoping the work will help
scientists better understand black
holes, supernovae and other

astronomical oddities.

A motorcycle crash took the life of a
22 year old man on route 460 in Roanoke
County.

Bryan Austin Franklin was
traveling west on 460 yesterday
afternoon when witnesses say he lost
control of his motorcycle and crashed
into the guard rail.

The Virginia Governor's race is still
very close.

The Washington Post poll shows
Democrat Tim Kaine has moved into a
47-to-44 percent lead over Republican
Jerry Kilgore.

The newspaper's poll just
one month ago had Kilgore with a four
percentage point lead.

After helping Hurricane Katrina victims
in the Gulf Coast for about a month, a
local division of the National Guard

has returned to Martinsville. The
soldiers from the First 246th Field
Artillery took part in food relief
