Today the President named 55-
year- old Samuel Alito, just a few days
after Harriet Miers withdrew her bid
amid criticism from conservatives.

Alito sits on the Philadelphia-
based, third U- S Circuit Court of
Appeals.

His resume also includes service as
Deputy Assistant to the U-S Attorney
General.

Bush's newest choice to sit on the
Supreme Court bench may please
Republicans, but is already triggering
criticism from Democrats.

They say Alito may be an extremist,
who would limit abortion rights.
