Patrick Henry Drive in the town when a
car tried to get her to pull over.

She eventually pulled into a well
lit parking lot at the Village
Apartments.

A man tried to show her something
was wrong with her car and then grabbed
her from behind.

He forced her into a car where a
man with a ski mask held her down.

They only traveled a short
distance before letting her go
unharmed.

questions a year after an accident
killed two teenage girls in Roanoke.

17 year old Elizabeth Eddy of
Rockbridge County and 18 year old Mary
Ashley Meadows of Lynchburg were killed
after a series of accidents on Route
220 near Virginia Western.

Police say the girls were passengers
in a car which was cut off by another
vehicle.

To this day, the driver that
triggered the accident has yet to come
forward.

a missing woman and her granddaughter
who disappeared nearly a year ago on
their way to Salem.

Authorities have found their
van submerged in a river in Eastern
North Carolina.

Human remains were also found but

have not yet been identified.

Gail Haddock-Dail and 15-year old
Heather Lynn Roberts disappeared last
December.

At that time police traced a cell
phone call to the same area of North
Carolina where the van was found, but
searches of streams, ponds and rivers
turned up nothing.

Investigators were working on
another missing person case when they
found the van yesterday.

Wilder says he and

A Deeds' campaign spokesman
says while the candidate supports
allowing Virginians to carry guns
without a permit, he wouldn't pursue
the issue as attorney general.

talks, a new four-year agreement has
been approved by union employees at
Kroger.

Civic Center to hear the specifics, and
to vote on the proposal. They ratified
the contract by a three to one margin.

The contract covers 35- hundred
employees at 45 stores. While it was a
long process, representatives of Kroger
say they are very pleased to reach
agreement with their employees and the

union.

The new contract will expire in
March 2009.

region on Nester School Road caught
fire around three Saturday morning.

Paul Mabry woke up to flames and
managed to get out of the home safely.

His trailer was a total loss.

Mabry told firefighters a wood
stove may have caused the fire.

embezzling more than 10- thousand
dollars.

Linda East resigned last March after
it became apparent she'd been taking
cash and checks from the town office
for more than a year.

East pleaded guilty to
embezzlement charges in July ... a
judge gave her a five-year suspended
sentence yesterday and ordered her to
perform community service.

The money has already been paid

The S&S Cafeteria closed its
doors for good yesterday.

Sunday night.


The customer base had been
dropping for years and the company said
it could no longer afford to keep the
Towers Mall location open.

The company says the restaurant
needed about 67- hundred customers a
week to be profitable, but recently
only managed about 45- hundred.

Several long time customers
stopped by yesterday saddened and
shocked to learn the news.
