Throughout the arraignment, which
lasted less than five-minutes, Gary
Pritchard seemed sedated, unresponsive
and even asleep at times.

Regardless- the judge appointed
him an attorney.

The 43-year-old seemed dazed and
confused.

the morning Pritchard had asked for a

involving a motorcycle that sent two
people to the hospital this morning.

stretch of Route 122 north of Bedford.

State police say the motorcyle was
headed south when he approached a work
crew on the road near the Millstone Tea
Room.

The biker braked suddenly and
swerved into a flag man standing near
the roadway.

Both men were flown to Lynchburg
General Hospital with what police say
were non-life threatening injuries.

The names of those involved have
not been released.

benchmark for high water in Western
Virginia.

anniversary of the flood of '85, what
we came to realize was the flood of the
century.

(END SOT) In one four-hour period on the

morning before election day in 1985, we
got a record amount of rain.

It had poured the week before
that.

The six-and a half inches of rain
that fell November 4th quickly
overwhelmed rivers and creeks, closed
city streets and filled what we had
THOUGHT were boundless public places.

Could that have been the
beginning of the end for Victory
Stadium?

Across the Roanoke River Roanoke
Memorial Hospital had 18-inches of
water in the lobby. It was three days
before maintenance workers could even
get into the basement.

LATER TODAY. IT MAY BE THREE WEEKS.

WE HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING AT THE
MOMENT.

Water and mud-damaged
transformers in the basement had to be
dug out and sent to Pennsylvania for
repair.

The hospital was without power
for TWO weeks.

The Transportation Museum lost a
million dollars worth of inventory
between the force of the water +
looting.

The museum was eventually
relocated.

Lakeside's "Shooting Star" stuck
out- -even from the air- -surrounded by
high water.

The Amusement park managed to
survive the flood and re-open for one
more season, though the roller coaster
was dismantled and sat on the site in
pieces for decades.

against the Hurricanes.

But, it's won't be the first time
Marcus Vick has played the Canes.

Two years ago, Marcus came off

rout of the then 2nd ranked Canes in
Blacksburg.

Roanoke today.

On the day she was buried in
Detroit, the civil rights trailblazer
was saved a seat on all 44 Valley Metro
buses.

And even if the buses were
crowded, her seat was still empty and
it was right behind the driver.

In 1955, Parks sparked the modern
civil rights movement when she refused
to give her seat on an Alabama bus to a
