After a long battle, traditional fox
hunting has been banned in Great
Britian, on the grounds of cruelty.

But that law is riding into into
trouble, with hunters chasing every

loophole they can.

Tally ho! Fox hunting season opens this
week in Britain!

(UPSOT HORNS OR HOUNDS, OR BOTH)

Wait a minute...wasn't that supposed to
be outlawed or something?

In theory, yes, but try telling these
guys...British people don't much like
being told what to do, about anything.

Especially country folk, who feel this
law has been forced on them.

And it turns out the historic ban on
traditional fox hunting is more
loophole than law.

For instance...you CAN use dogs to
flush animals out for a bird of
prey...that's where this guy comes in.

(MARK SHOTTON@1/4Master, South Durham
Hunt )

WE'RE NOT HUNTING WITH HOUNDS. WE ARE
JUST FLUSHING THAT COVER TO THE BIRD
HERE.

That bird's just an alibi with wings.

(BRIDGE; CHARLIE D'AGATA - ON CAMERA
BRIDGE)

IF ANYTHING, THE BAN TO STOP HUNTING
FOXES WITH DOGS HAS BACKFIRED
SPECTACULARLY. HUNDREDS OF HUNT
ORGANIZERS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY SAY
MORE BRITS THAN EVER ARE SADDLING UP TO

DEFY THE LAW.

Here's another method...a "drag hunt."
Douse a rag with animal scent, and drag
it..the dogs find the scent, the pack
gives chase. All perfectly legal.

That is, until the dogs find another
smell.

Should they stumble on a fox, they're
SUPPOSED to call the dogs off.

BUT I MEAN...YOU CAN'T STOP FOXHOUNDS
HUNTING FOXES, AND THAT'S IT LIKE.

Now proving intent with humans is tough
enough...proving intent with a dog,
well, that's just crazy talk.

And, hunters would argue, it's not
about the kill -- or indeed, getting
caught -- it's the thrill of the chase.

The man accused in Kawa's death
could face other and more severe
charges.

Yesterday morning, 43-year-old
Gary E. Pritchard, Jr. was arraigned
before a judge.

Pritchard appeared sedated and
even asleep at times.

The Judge appointed Tony Anderson
to represent him.

That could be a sign to things to
come- Anderson has handled more than a
dozen capital murder cases in his

23-year career.

Roanoke Commonwealth's Attorney
Don Caldwell says more charges are
