GRAPHIC=FFE Good evening everybody and once
again welcome to yet another edition of
Friday Football Extra here on Your

Tonight marks the next to last
week of the regular season.
And a number of teams were
looking to get back in the playoff
chase or lock down district titles.
GRAPHIC=FLEMING/BASSETT
One of those who had clinched at
least a tie for the district title was
Blue Ridge leader Fleming.
Tonight, the Colonels hosted
Piedmont member Bassett at Victory

Bassett vs. William Fleming It was homecoming night for the
:00 Colonels as Jasmine Bethel was crowned
queen and Colonel tailback Dwayne
Priest was named this year's king.
Fleming was already on top
25-to-nothing at halftime and on the
opening kickoff - Marcus Small makes
himself huge - as he makes a cut up
field, picks up speed and returns it 82
yards all the way to the house for the
score. The coast to coast dash makes
it 33-to-nothing Colonels.
Late in the third, Ronnie
Thompson will show some more special -
special teams play as he returns the
punt 52 yards for the team's second
straight score on a return. The
Colonels are now on top 41 to nothing -
on a team that was already in the
region Four playoffs going into
tonight.
Early in the fourth, Josh Lawton
will keep it rolling as he takes the
handoff, start left, cut right and pick
up 15 yards for a Fleming first down.
On the very next play - Fleming's
Patrick Curtis will get some experience
at quarterback and make it happen with
the toss to Marcus Bratton. He will
run it down the far sideline for 23
yards.
*CG 856 Final Delvrine Wilcher then calls his
own number and he gets into the end
zone.
Fleming rolls over Bassett
54-to-nothing and closes out the season
against Alleghany next week.

Salem vs. Pulaski Co. The Salem cheerleaders were all
:00 smiles at halftime with the Spartans on
top 41-to-7.
And on Blacksburg's first
possession of the second half Trey
Gresh will drop back to pass looking
deep, but his prayer its jerked out of
the sky by Mark Hanabury. After
pulling it down his defensive mates
will pave the way for a 60 yard return
as Hanabury refuses to go down and is
finally brought down at the Bruins'
four yard line.
Brandon Grigsby then punches it
in from the four to extend the Salem
lead to 48-to-7 in the third quarter.
On Salem's next possession,
Grigsby finds more running room - this
time he goes right up the middle of the
Bruins' defense for 26 yards.
The Spartans' backfield shared
the wealth and showed their depth as
Aaron Anderson comes in and finds a
hole and the endzone on this 7 yard
run. The Spartans take 55-to-7 lead in
the third.
Blacksburg's offense would make
it a little more respectable as John
Cooke rolls to his left

Cave Spring vs. Pulaski Co. The Pulaski County players were
all business tonight after last week's

We pick this one up in the fourth
with Cave Spring on top 13-to-3.
Pulaski County tries to make something
happen from the 39, and Austin Twine
keeps up the left side and gets nine
yards and a cameraman on his way to
first down.
Later in that drive - on a third
and 10 - Twine will connect with Kevin
Crouse for 23 yards on the pass play
moving the ball down to the five yard
line.
Crouse would then take in off the
left side and it's now a 13-to-10 game
in the fourth quarter with Cave still
on top.
And the Knights would not be
denied as Danny Aiken - who denied a
two point conversion last week -
gobbles up 35 yards a huge first down
moving the ball into Pulaski territory.
Then with less than two minutes
to go on the game - Kenny Horan sneaks
up the left side and then shoots up the
middle for the touchdown.

20-to-10 and drops the Cougars to 5 and

Early in the second, Hidden

unchanged for the top four teams at the
top of the ladder.

VO-NAT Salem. Liberty, Gretna and

SUPER 7 positions one through four and all four
are unbeaten at 9-and-0.
Cave Spring jumps up a spot after
taking down Pulaski and improving to
8-and-1.
George Wythe also picks up a
position and Amherst County returns to
the poll after falling out a week ago.
And the pollbuster this week -

GRAPHIC=FFE Some weeks their is heavy debate
between our entire Friday Footall Extra
Crew as to who deserves the F-F-E
Player of the week honor.
GRAPHIC=HOFFER FULL SCREEN There wasn't anyone who could argue
with Andrew Hoffer of Christiansburg
taking home the honor this week. You
will understand after hearing the stats
from Grant Kittelson.

(END SOT) Hoffer could have done more in
Christiansburg 49-6 win over Pulaski
County. Let's start with the offense,
he accounted for 6 touchdowns. He
scored 4 of them on the ground where he
rushed for 117 yards. He also threw
for 2 Scores and 122 yards.
(BITE:)
That is just 1 side of the ball, on
defense Hoffer had 19 tackles and an
interception
and just to top it all off he blocked
the Extra Point on Pulaski's only
Touchdown
(BITE:)
what makes the performance even more
special is that this was the first time
that Christiansburg had beaten Pulaski,
EVER.
(BITE:)
But the most important stat for Hoffer,
was that him and his teammates snapped
a 2-game losing streak with the win
over the Cougars. IN Christiansburg
