charged with killing his grandmother
could be tried as an adult.
The teen had his first court
appearance today where the judge
ordered him to remain in custody.

The teenager has lived with his
grandmother and step grandfather since
he was six months old- and had been
legally adopted by them.
He's accused of stabbing 61 year old
Betty Jamison to death after an
argument Saturday afternoon at the
family home on Poages Mill Road.
Jamison was known to most as Jean
Jamison, She was described as a lovely,
sweet woman, a member of the Poages
Mill Brethern Church- who was retired
from the railroad.

with first degree murder-
He was appointed an attorney- and
is due back in court next week.
Roanoke County School officials
told News 7 today it was business as
usual at Cave Spring High, but students
there say four Roanoke County police
officers were at the school today.
School officials also sent a
letter home to parents regarding the
murder saying they implemented their
crisis plan after rumors spread
regarding school safety.
The letter says the rumors were
unfounded and assured parents that
students are safe.

A Pittsylvania County boy was
hospitalized after nearly drowning in a
neighbor's fountain this morning.

home on Railroad Lane off Route 29 near
Blairs around 9:45.
A 20-month-old child apparently
wandered away from his grandmother's
home and then fell into the small pond
that had about a foot of water in it.
A neighbor found him floating in
the pond and called 9-1-1.
The boy was revived through C-P-R
then flown to the U-V-A Medical Center.
His condition and name have not
been released.

Police say 18-year old Brian
Joseph McCloskey was found in the road

as usual, he played this summer for
U-S-A Basketball and even took up a new
hobby which should be no shock, he has
gotten into playing Video Games. J.J.
and his teammates kick off their
2--thousand 5, 2-thousand 6 campaign
with the Pre-season N-I-T tournament
against Boston University on November
14th in Cameron Indoor Stadium, Grant

Word from Roanoke City Council
is that 5 of the seven members have
indicated that they will vote for
separate high school stadiums. One
member has so far said he'll vote to
renovate Victory Stadium.
