BUT NOW PATCH USERS ARE BEING WARNED BY
THE FOOD AND DRUG

TO ABOUT 60 PERCENT MORE OF THE

BOTH THE BIRTH CONTROL PILL AND THE

A STEADY DOSE OF THE HORMONE

IT MIGHT BE THAT THE PATCH SIMPLY NEEDS
TO BE REFORMULATED TO A LOWER

BE RELATED TO THE PATCH.

MANUFACTURER ORTHO MCNEIL CALLED THE
REPORT "UNSCIENTIFIC". BUT EVEN

BEFORE IT WAS APPROVED, THE F-D-A

OF THE PILL. NOW FACING SEVERAL

TRACK: THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW
BUSINESS, AND NO ONE KNEW THAT

BETTER THAN MARILYN MONROE. 43-YEARS
AFTER HER DEATH, THE MOST

EXTENSIVE EXHIBIT EVER OF MARILYN
MONROE SHOWS HOW MUCH SHE LOVED THE

SPOTLIGHT AND HOW LARGE A LIFE SHE
LIVED IN HER BRIEF 36-YEARS.

TRACK: FROM HER MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
TO BASEBALL LEGEND, JOE DIMAGGIO

TO THE JEWELS BESTOWED BY FRANK SINATRA
TO THE FAMOUS DRESS PROVING

DIAMONDS ARE A GIRLS BEST FRIEND ITS
ALL ELABORATELY DISPLAYED AT

THE QUEEN MARY HOTEL IN LONG BEACH,

CALIFORNIA.

BUT THERE'S ALSO A MORE PRIVATE SIDE.

(Super: Robert Otto/Curator)

SOT: (2:04:35) It shows Marilyn like

you and I are. There's a real

person behind all this glitz and
glamour. (:07)

TRACK: YOU'LL SEE THAT AMONGST HER
LINGERIE AND PERSONAL EFFECTS EVEN

STRANDS OF HER HAIR STILL CLING TO
THESE CURLERS. THERE ARE RARE FINDS:

A FUR WITH M-D FOR MARILYN DIMAGGIO,
CASUAL CLOTHING, AND BEAUTIFUL

GOWNS.

(Super: Lani Bennett/Marilyn Monroe
fan) (QUICK!)

MOS: (1:46:51) When I went inside, I
got really emotional just looking

at all her pictures. (:04)

(Super: Gary Taylor/Marilyn Monroe fan)
(QUICK!)

MOS: (1:50:56) Shes always had the
mystique, the mystique of Hollywood,

of old Hollywood. (:04)

(Super: Crystal Vargas/Marilyn Monroe
fan)

MOS: (1:39:30) I think its because
she's so classic. Shes just like

the image of that time. (:05)

TRACJ

EVEN MONROE'S FRIEND, HUGH HEFNER,
WANTED TO SEE IT FOR HIMSELF.

(Super: Teri Okita/Reporting)

STANDUP BRIDGE: (2:25:51) Along with
the glitz, glamour, and mystique

of Marilyn Monroe, the other legacy
that lingers: what many believe is

the mystery surrounding her death.
(:10)

SOT: (23:37:28) June: She was murdered,

period.

TRACK: JOE DIMAGGIO'S NIECE, JUNE, WAS
FRIENDS WITH MONROE. SHE SAW

THE ACTRESS JUST HOURS BEFORE SHE DIED,
AND LIKE MANY FANS, SHES

CONVINCED MONROE DID NOT TAKE HER OWN
LIFE.

(Super: June DiMaggio/Monroe Friend)

SOT: (23:37:06) My mother was talking

to her on the telephone when she

dropped the telephone and screamed.
She knew. (:06)

TRACK: DIMAGGIO CLAIMS HER MOTHER KNEW
WHO KILLED MARILYN BUT TOOK IT TO

HER GRAVE. SOME WANT THE ACTRESS BODY
EXHUMED AND TESTS DONE. FOR

NOW, THE MYSTERY REMAINS AND HER LEGEND
IN LIFE AND DEATH LIVES ON.

TERI OKITA, CBS NEWS, LONG BEACH.
