died in a car accident.

Officer Courtney Dickerson last
night was headed west on Halifax Road
to answer an alarm call on Piney Forest
Road.

While making a turn on Halifax

Road near the Pleasant View Baptist
Church, Dickerson's cruiser flipped and
he was ejected from the vehicle.

He was taken to Danville Regional
Medical Center and was pronounced dead
just after midnight.

Officials say Dickerson had been
with the Department for over a year and
was well liked by his peers.

He is survived by his wife and
three year old son.

State Police are investigating
the accident.

double shooting suspect in Giles
County.

After a two day manhunt, 33 year
old Timothy Wayne Simpkins was picked
up in Staffordsville yesterday, not far

from the crime scene.

VO-NAT Simpkins was seen by three folks

leaving the woods by the post office.

He was still dressed in
camouflage, but did not have a weapon.

Police say he shot Mary "Missy"
Simpkins and boyfriend outside a home
on Route 100 Wednesday afternoon.

Police believe the shootings were
premeditated.

Simpkins is charged with
attempted Capital murder.

say this man raped a woman.

Police arrested 36-year
old Joel F. Carter of Vinton yesterday

morning.

Investigators say Carter
offered a ride to a woman walking on
Pollard Street in Vinton around two
a-m.

her home, he drove to an area off
Pitzer Road in Mount Pleasant and
assaulted her inside his van.

The 21-year old victim was
able to escape and call police.

Officers are asking any
other women who may have encountered
Carter to call police.

seriously injured in an accident in
Danville.

Police say an unoccupied panel
truck rolled onto South Boston Road and
hit a car yesterday.

Part of the van hit 2-year-old

Dawson Rowland in the head.

He was flown to the U-V-A Medical
Center yesterday evening, but there's
no word on his condition.

The boy's mother, who was
driving the car, was not hurt.

Police charged 26-year old
Jonathon Moore with failing to secure a
vehicle.

are asking if the Keagy Village project
is still a go.

Kahn Development had big plans to
build a upscale shopping center next to
Allstate Insurance at the corner of
Route 419 and Keagy Road.

But nearly a year and a half
after the project was approved,
construction still has yet to get
underway.

A company official says there
have been several delays especially
signing tenants like the main anchor, a
grocery store.

Robert Temple says Kahn
Development is in serious negotiatons

with a grocery store that is currently
not in the Roanoke Valley.

Kahn hopes to begin construction
on the project next spring.

mystery-- but authorities say the
Virginia Tech student injured last
weekend has died.

18-year-old Brian Joseph
McCloskey died yesterday at Roanoke
Memorial Hospital.

found with injuries to his face and
head early Saturday morning in the
14-hundred block of Christine Court.

Police aren't sure if he was
severely beaten, or the victim of an
accident.

embezzling more than 260-thousand
dollars from a Roanoke restaurant
chain.

33-year-old Donna Marie Phillips
was indicted on a federal wire fraud
charge.

Investigators say Phillips used
her position as a bookkeeper with
Famous Anthony's Restaurants to
embezzle the money from 2000 to 2005.

If convicted, Philips could
face 20 years in prison or a
250-thousand dollar fine.
