GRAPHIC=FFE Good evening everybody and
welcome to Friday Football Extra here
on Your Hometown Station.
Before you do anything make sure
you're good and warm after what was
easily the coldest night of the season
to date.
Tonight marked the end of the
regular season for most and the start
of the playoffs for a few.
GRAPHIC=SALEM/PULASKI We begin tonight with a Friday
Football Extra favorite - the annual
Salem Pulaski County game.
Both teams came into tonight
knowing that each already was in the
playoffs.
But the similarities ended there.
Salem was 9-and-0 and Pulaski was
barely above the 500 mark at 5-and-4.

Pulaski Co. vs. Salem The Spartans were standing tall
:00 in the third quarter holding a
14-to-nothing lead on the Cougars.
But the Cougars were clawing
their way back as Shay Dunagan lets
Kevin Crouse get the acrobatic one
yarder to cut the Salem lead to
14-to-7.
After stopping Salem on downs on
their next drive Crouse will take the
rock through the middle from the 50 and
no one is gonna catch him. He's in the
zone and suddenly this bad boy is all
tied up at 14-all in the third quarter.
On Salem's next possession -
Keith Gaines will drop back to pass but
have his pass picked off by Austin
Twine. He will take the pick to the
outside and fight his way all the way
down to the 10 yard line before he goes
out of bounds.
Four plays later, Pulaski would
have to settle for this field goal from
Luis Piscura. The kick completes 17
unanswered from the Cougars and they
are on top 17-to-14 in the fourth.
It stayed that way until late in
the game - with just 27 ticks left on
the clock, and faced with a fourth and
five, Jay Nelson makes this first down
catch to keep the Salem drive alive.
*CG 858 Final Two plays later from the 30 with
just 11 seconds to go - Gaines throws
up a prayer only to have it answered by
D'juan Smith - who somehow gets open.
Salem completes a perfect regular
season in unbelievable fashion -
winning it 21-to-17.

Late in the first quarter one of

A couple of play later on the
first play of the second quarter, Will
Osborne bangs in from the four for the

Cave Spring would look to add
some more in the opening half as
Osborne and his quarterback Danny Aiken
work the play action to perfection as
Osborne sneaks out into the pattern
throws some nice moves on the Titans'
defenders and takes it to the house for
his second TD of the game. The Knights
are on top 13-to-nothing.
Just before intermission - Hidden
Valley would get right back in the
game. Tyler Coyer's pass is tipped by
the Knights' but right to his own man
Chris Leonard who makes the catch and
keeps the drive alive.
That would be huge, because with
just 16 second before the half - Coyer
and Leonard would connect to cut the
Cave lead to 13-to-7 at the break.
It would stay that way until
midway through the fourth.
Faced with a 4th and 15 from the
Hidden Valley 24 - Aiken will drop back
and find Osborne over the middle. He
not only gets the first down, but his
third touchdown of the night as he
rolls in untouched to make it a
20-to-7.
Hidden Valley would close the gap
with five minutes left in the game. On
this third and long, Coyer throws the
desperation bomb to Brian Bush - who
makes the grab and rumbles in for the
Titan TD.
But that was it - Cave Spring
would run out the clock and hand on for
the 20-to-14 win over the Titans.

Franklin County would hollar back
in a big way as Shane Cooper breaks
through the line and hits the outside.
He will carry the ball 32 yards all the
way down to the 35 yard line.
On the next play - Antonio Terry
takes the handoff and he will break
down the Patriots' defense and move the
ball down to the PH 20.
*CG 850 FINAL Two plays later - Terry
will score from the 10 to make it a 31
to 7 lead in favor of the home boys.
Franklin County would name the
score and play some "D" as Hasan Craig
sacks Darren Thomas and the Eagles get
the 31 to 7 win.

Halifax Co. vs. E.C. Glass The Hilltopper mascot was may
:00 have the warmest entity in the stadium
tonight.
Halifax would warm things up with
Bobby Owens passing to Willie Stevens.
The two connect for 27 yards and a
touchdown right off the bat and the
Comets take a 7-to-nothing lead in the
first.
EC Glass would come right back
with Justin Devaul passing to William
Banks. They convert the short pitch
and catch into a 45 yard touchdown as
Banks rips through the defense and into
the zone to tie things at 7-all.
Halifax would again attempt to
make its mark with the pass as- Owens
goes to the air, only to have his pass
picked off by Trent Sparks who puts the
ball back in the hands of the Topper
offense.
*CG 851 But Halifax would get it back and
get busy again as Owens looks to the
endzone this time. The pass is there,
but so is the hit and Patrick Terry
can't hang on. _______ wins it
tonight ____ to ____.
