GRAPHIC=Mornin' A Danville police officer has

died in a car accident.

Officer Courtney Dickerson last
night was headed west on Halifax Road
to answer an alarm call on Piney Forest
Road.

While making a turn on Halifax
Road near the Pleasant View Baptist
Church, Dickerson's cruiser flipped,
and he was ejected from the vehicle.

He was taken to Danville Regional
Medical Center and was pronounced dead
just after midnight.

Officials say Dickerson had been
with the Department for over a year and
was well liked by his peers.

He is survived by his wife and
three year old son.

State Police are investigating
the accident.

Simpkins was seen by three folks
leaving the woods by the post office.

Simpkins and boyfriend outside this
home Wednesday afternoon.

Police arrested 36-year
old Joel F. Carter of Vinton yesterday
morning.

Investigators say Carter
offered a ride to a woman walking on
Pollard Street in Vinton around two

from injuries he suffered last weekend.

Brian Joseph McCloskey died yesterday
afternoon at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

McCloskey was found early
Saturday morning in the 14-hundred
block of Christine Court.

He had injuries to his head and
face.

Police aren't sure how he got
those injuries- but say "somebody out
there knows what happened."

Officers are continuing to follow
leads.

An autopsy is scheduled for later

return home safetly, but statistics
show a few probably will not.

mourning the loss of one of its own.

Officer Courtney Dickerson was
killed in a car accident overnight.

Police say Dickerson last night
was headed west on Halifax Road to
answer an alarm call on Piney Forest
Road.

While making a turn on Halifax
Road near the Pleasant View Baptist
Church, Dickerson's cruiser flipped and

he was ejected from the vehicle.

He was taken to Danville Regional
Medical Center and was pronounced dead
just after midnight.

Officials say Dickerson had been
with the Department for over a year and
was well liked by his peers.

He is survived by his wife and
three year old son.

State Police are investigating
the accident.

up in Staffordsville yesterday, not far
from the crime scene.

scheduled to be built next to Allstate
Insurance at the corner of Route 419
and Keagy Road.

Many nearby residents bitterly fought
the project because the property was
zoned residential, not commercial.

But in June 2004, the Roanoke County
Board of Supervisors voted four to one
in favor of rezoning the property,
clearing the way for the project.

died in a car accident.

Officer Courtney Dickerson last
night was headed west on Halifax Road
to answer an alarm call on Piney Forest
Road.

While making a turn on Halifax
Road near the Pleasant View Baptist

Church, Dickerson's cruiser flipped and
he was ejected from the vehicle.

He was taken to Danville Regional
Medical Center and was pronounced dead
just after midnight.

Officials say Dickerson had been
with the Department for over a year and
was well liked by his peers.

He is survived by his wife and
three year old son.

up in Staffordsville yesterday, not far
from the crime scene.

Bedford is hosting a Veterans' Day
ceremony today.

It begins at 11 A-M and will
honor veterans and pay tribute to those
currently serving in the armed forces.

The Virginia War Memorial in

State police are investigating a car
accident that killed a Danville police
officer last night.

Authorities say Officer Courtney
Dickerson's cruiser flipped when he
made a turn on Halifax Road.

He later died at the Danville
Regional Medical Center.

accused of shooting two people in Giles

county.

After a two- day manhunt Timothy
Wayne Simpkins was picked up in
Staffordsville, not far from the crime

McCloskey died yesterday at Roanoke
Memorial Hospital.

seriously injured in an accident in
Danville.

Police say an unoccupied panel
truck rolled onto South Boston Road and
hit a car yesterday.

Part of the van hit 2-year-old
Dawson Rowland in the head.

He was flown to the U-V-A Medical

Center yesterday evening, but there's
no word on his condition.

The boy's mother, who was
driving the car, was not hurt.

Police charged 26-year old
Jonathon Moore with failing to secure a
vehicle.

mourning the loss of one of its own.

Officer Courtney Dickerson was

while on-duty.

Police say Dickerson was
responding to an alarm call when his
