The visit to Iraq may have been
surprise---however Condoleeza Rices

message was anything but.

The Secretary of State recited the
White House company line.

sot: Condoleeza Rice/U.S. Secretary of

State

"HERE IN IRAQ WE ARE GOING TO STAY
COMMITED BECAUSE IRAQS ARE FINE AND

BRAVE, COURAGEOUS PEOPLE."

First stopMosul.

There, in the Sunni Arab town, she
appealed for cooperation in the

upcoming elections.

Most Sunnis oppose the recently passed
national constitution and fear

they will be a powerless minority in
the new Iraqi government.

Rice disagreed and continued her
message of unity and support.

sot: Rice again (06:14:47)

"helping to create conditions in Iraq
that the Iraqi people will seize

to secure their future."

Rice's visit follows one of the
bloodiest days in Iraq in months which

included several bombings.

In one of those, 35 people were killed
when a suicide bomber blew

himself up in a Baghdad restaurant
where police often eat.

With insurgency still going strong ,
Rice helped launch new joint

civilian and military rapid response
teams. They are designed to move

into towns once insurgents have been
cleared out.

If successful...the program could be a
step towards bringing U-S troops

home....a possible ray of hope on this
Veterans's Day for thousands of

American soldiers in Iraq.

expected fill many a Christmas stocking

This year's game features
pulsating impact players - and almost
every star in the ACC is just that.

Marcus - Marcus Vick doesn't like to be
himself in the game - instead he
prefers to put himself in the shoes of
his competition.

MARCUS VICK

The game is amazingly realistic -
featuring everything from the Hokie
Bird to Lee Corso putting on the Hokie
Bird head.

And one Hokies says he's head and

shoulder above his teammates when it
comes to playing the game.

But yesterday, music legend Paul
McCartney read portions of his first
children's book to a group of L- A
elementary students.

The book titled, "High in the Clouds"
was inspired by the award- winning
animated film "Tropic Island Hum," on
which McCartney collaborated with
animator Geoff Dunbar.

It's the story of Wirral the
squirrel, who is forced by an evil
villain to leave his woodland home.
