Rita have left extensive damage
throughout the Gulf Coast.

And, when residents needed help,
Virginia volunteers answered that call.

This weekend Joe, Photographer

GRAPHIC=Hurricane Preparedness Virginians may know all about

Hurricane Katrina, but they may want to
learn a little bit more about Hurricane
Zeke.

Zeke was the name given to a
simulated Category 3 hurricane about
six years ago.

The test allowed state and local
agencies to prepare for a big hurricane
making landfall in Virginia.

But according to the project's
final report -- the state evacuation
plan caused more local confusion than
anything else.

The report says many
jurisdictions lacked working knowledge
of the plan and the state did NOT fully
understand local concerns.

One state official says many of
the problems have been fixed since
then.
