is slowing traffic in Roanoke.
It happened in the Southbound
lanes just before the Orange Avenue
exit.
State police say no one was
injured, but some of the lanes have
been blocked.
Crews expected to have it

fixture in Roanoke for more than half a
century.
Back in 1946, the owners of H & C
Coffee decided to put the sign up after
seeing something similar in New York
City.
They had no idea it would become a
pop icon.

Pennsylvania and a girl he apparently
kidnapped are being questioned tonight.

Investigators say 18 year-old David
Ludwig killed 14 year-old Kara Borden's
parents yesterday after an argument,
and then took off with her.
The two are believed to be dating.
Ludwig was caught after he crashed
his car into a tree just outside
Indianapolis.
Police say that Kara was not hurt,
but was crying and screaming when she
got out of the car.
At this point, they are not sure
whether she was involved, or a victim
herself.

just minutes after allegedly holding up
a bank in Bedford.
But it took police from four
departments and a jolt from a Taser
gun.

Holland, Junior entered the bank with a
gun, wearing a hood over his head.
He demanded money from two
tellers and fled.
Retired police officer Jack Reid
gave chase along with the branch
manager.

teamed up to surround Holland and make
the arrest.

Today a legislative watch- dog
commission heard how the boom is
expected to affect the Commonwealth.
Medicaid costs are projected to
increase and localities are already
reporting a shortage in medicaid-
funded nursing home beds.
The study also projects a
shortage of nearly 23- thousand
registered nurses by the year 2020.
To off- set an increase in
health- care costs, many state
employees are working longer.

The university says Roger Groot
died of natural causes

A Roanoke businessman was
remembered today.
The late Rick Woodson, founder of
Rick Woodson Honda, was honored by the
Virginia Senate.
Senator John Edwards presented
Woodson's family with a plaque and a
senate joint resolution honoring his
life and work.

father, a businessman, Korean war
Veteran, community leader, and Virginia
Tech benefactor.

GRAPHIC=Earthquake Despite several small tsunamis
following a strong earthquake in
northern Japan, there are no reports of
damage.

VO-NAT :30 The U-S Geological Survey says
the preliminary magnitude
seven-point-two quake was centered off
the east coast of Japan's
main island, Honshu.
Japan's Meteorological Agency
measured the magnitude at
six-point-nine.
A tsunami warning was issued and
small tsunamis
struck towns on Japan's northeastern
coast more than 200 miles from
the epicenter.
The warning has since been
lifted.
In August, the area was shaken by
a powerful seven-point-two magnitude
temblor that injured at least 59
people, triggered
landslides, damaged buildings and
caused widespread power outages.

factory, sending pink slips to more
than 3-hundred workers.

it's closing its bedroom factory in
January.
The layoffs will affect workers
in both the factory and main office.
President Lee Houston blames
competition from low cost imports from
China as the reason for the closure.
He says Webb employees are not to
blame.
Webb will continue to operate its
particleboard and mirror plants in
Galax.
Just last year, the company was forced
to lay off a hundred and fifty workers.
