April 2004 Webb Furniture announced today
it's closing its bedroom factory in
January.

The layoffs will affect workers
in both the factory and main office.

President Lee Houston blames
competition from low cost imports from
China as the reason for the closure.

He says Webb employees are not to
blame.

Webb will continue to operate its
particleboard and mirror plants in
Galax.

Just last year, the company was forced
to lay off a hundred and fifty workers.
