Smith Mountain Lake has been approved
by the Franklin County Board of
Supervisors.

Last Night Last night, the board approved
plans for the LakeWatch Plantation
project off Route-122 in Moneta.

It includes more than 100-homes,
restaurants, an outdoor amphitheatre
and public trails.

Residents spoke in favor of the
project, but it faced opposition, from
two of the county supervisors, who say
the county should update its
comprehensive plan, before approving
any more projects.

activists have offically been ruled a
murder-suicide by Giles County
investigators.

November 2004 It was a year ago this week that
deputies discovered the burning home of
44-year old Sue Daniels.

According to the final report,
40-year old Niklan Jones killed
Daniels, set fire to her home, and then
stabbed himself to death in nearby
woods.

Investigators believe the pair
had a romantic relationship that
Daniels eventually ended.

The official investigation is
wrapping up this week.

The sheriff's office does not
believe anyone else was involved in the
crime.

police officer for saving them from

recognized yesterday

While Crotts says the man fully
intended to die that evening, the two
spent a long time talking afterwards.

Crotts says the man had recently
lost his mother, suffered from chronic
back pain and was living in the Rescue
Mission.

in connection with last week's ambush
shooting of two people in Giles County.

McDaniels is charged with conspiracy to
commit murder.

Investigators say she's the
girlfriend of 33 year old Timothy Wayne
Simpkins.

Simpkins is charged with *CG locator Giles Co. attempted capital murder in the Last Week shooting of his wife and her boyfriend
last week in Staffordsville.

Investigators say Simpkins waited
on a wooded hillside for the pair to
get home before opening fire.

Christiansburg home.

They executed a search warrant
and found two shotguns and ammunition

Forward" transportation town hall tour
