asked to make an exception.

the Hales Ford Bridge.

fire safety concerns.


Many of them were life-long
county residents ... others moved here
for the county's pastoral beauty ...
and a view they say would be ruined by
a high-rise building.

4-to-2 to stick to its original height
limit and not allow Waterwheel to
exceed it.

They've all received letters
saying their doctor may no longer be in
the Anthem network.

and Hematology Associates of Southwest
Virginia may no longer be contracted to
provide services for members of Anthem
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Virginia as
of January 1st.

The letter also states that if an
agreement isn't reached patients will
be able to continue care on an "out of
network' basis... which usually means
at a higher cost to the patient.

But Anthem says it will an
exception for current patients.

Concerned Christians has taken
its fight from the ABC board to the
Circuit Court.

A judge ruled yesterday the group
did not officially notify the city of
Roanoke -which owns the Civic Center
-and has until December 27th to fix the
mistake.

Otherwise the case will be
dismissed.

Interstate 81 was caused by a deer.

It happened around seven last
night near the Dixie Caverns exit in
Roanoke County.

State police say the driver of a
Suburban was northbound, when he ran
into a car that had stopped on the side
of the interstate.

That car had hit a deer and
pulled over to check the damage.

The two women in the car were
injured.


One was flown to Roanoke Memorial
Hospital.

Their conditions are unknown.

The driver of the S-U-V, David
White of Raleigh, North Carolina, has
been charged with reckless driving.

More than a million deer will
have collided with cars on the nation's
highways before this year is out.

The Insurance Information
Institute warns drivers to be
especially careful at DAWN and DUSK
when deer are most active.

If you see ONE, assume there may
be several.

Brake firmly, but evenly, and
avoid swerving off the road.

You may be better off hitting a
deer than a tree.

been completed on the death of a
VIrginia Tech student.

McCloskey died from blunt force
injuries... that is: a crushing blow to
the head.

trail about a mile from campus.

He died last Thursday, and police
are treating his death as a homicide.
