At that time the judge will most
likely certify a murder charge,
transferring the case to CIRCUIT Court.


If Chris Jamison is convicted of
killing his grandmother, Jean Jamison-

can still treat the boy as a juvenile
when it comes time for punishment.

Attorney General.

And with no declared winner, both
candidates are preparing to take
office.

them.

That's down considerably from the

Governor Mark Warner has given both
candidates transition offices.

Both staffs moved in yesterday
and will likely be bumping into one
another since their offices are in the
same building.

Despite a likely recount,
staffers for both candidates are moving
ahead with plans to take over the
attorney general's office.

possible hate crime on campus.

Over the weekend, racially
motivated graffiti was found in one of
the dorms.

Officials won't say which dorm,
where the graffiti was found, or what
it said.

Four people are accused of
writing or witnessing the message.

Two of them are students and
their case has already been referred to
the school's judicial process.

This is the second time this
semester that racially motivated
graffiti was found at Virgina Tech.

escaped their burning home.

However the house may be a total

loss.

Firefighters were called to
this home on Tulip Street around 5
o'clock yesterday evening.

Flames had broken through an
upstairs window and the blaze quickly
spread to the rest of the two-story
building.

It took fire crews more than
half an hour to bring it under control.

An elderly man suffered slight
burns to his hand while escaping the
house.

The cause is under investigation.

A faulty chimney may be to blame
for a fire that damaged a home near
downtown Bedford yesterday afternoon.


Firefighters were called to 651
Orange Street around 2:15 after the
homeowner reported his house was on
fire.

The blaze had started in the
chimney and spread into the attic ...
it took about 15 minutes to bring under
control.

Much of the second floor was also
damaged by smoke, water and fire.

The residents were able to
get out of the house unharmed.

Medical Center announced yesterday
morning that they're banning smoking on
their properties.

The companies admit they may have
a hard time enforcing the new policy.

Anthem's policy started
yesterday, and Carilion and Lewis Gale
will be smoke-free as of June 1st.
