THIS IS A SERIOUS DISORDER. THERE IS A

ON VACCINES AS POTENTIAL CAUSE

There had been some question about
whether the mercury used as
preservative in vaccines may be the
culprit.

But Dr. Jose Cordero with CDC says
research so far has not supported that.

ONE OF THE QUESTIONS THAT REMAINS IS
THAT FOR SOME SUBTYPES OF AUTISM IF
THERE IS STILL A RELATIONSHIP. THERE
ARE STUDIES THAT CONTINUE THAT WE ARE

(END SOT)

As of 2001, all childhood vaccines,
except the flu shot, no longer contain
mercury or either have very small
traces of it.

But a recent study has caught the
attention of health officials. It found
certain pregnancy and family factors

were associated with an increase risk
of autism.

They included a breech birth, an early
delivery, a low birth weight, and the
parents' psychiatric history.

The CDC will soon conducts its own
large-scale study with about 2-thousand
children.

SO WE'RE TRYING TO LOOK AT A LOT OF
FACTORS THAT HAVE BEEN REPORTED
ASSOCIATED WITH AUTISM BUT HAVE NOT
BEEN ABLE TO BE LOOKED AT IN LARGE
POPULATION, MAYBE THAT'S WHY WE DON'T
HAVE THE ANSWERS

Two bucks and one goose..

They were presented to Governor
Mark Warner by Chiefs of the Pamunkey

(Puh- Monkey) and Mattaponi
(Matta-po-ni') Indian tribes.

It's a tradition born out of a
treaty signed in 1646.

Governor Warner was also
presented with a turtle- plate-
representing long- life and peace.

Warner, who has just 52- days
left in the governor's mansion, says
the ceremony is one of the many things
he'll miss about being governor.

As Virginia prepares to
commemorate 400- years since English

settlers arrived at Jamestown, he hopes
Virginians remember the important role
American Indians have played in
history. END VO (END VO)
