answer to that question.

meals to needy residents.

large-scale disasters around the world
and in the U-S this past year, their
donations are down about 16 percent.
Unfortunately, demand is up about 17
percent, making it hard to fill in that
gap.

Salvation Army shelter.

About forty men took part in the
holiday meal at the shelter on Salem
Avenue.
Volunteers and shelter residents
helped dish out the meal of turkey,
mashed potatoes, vegetables and other
fixings.
Shelter officials say it's
important to provide a family-type
setting for these men who are going
through some tough personal times.

Moore of Danville was shot to death at

this morning.
His body was sent to the Roanoke
Medical Examiner's office for an
autopsy.

SCAM ALERT 7 ANIM asking residents to help them catch
some scam artists who came close to
cheating an elderly couple out of
10-thousand dollars yesterday.
A teller at the First Virginia
Bank in Big Island called police after
the couple came in asking to cash in a
C.D. to pay for their driveway
re-paving.
The suspects had originally told
them it would cost about 400 dollars,
but later raised the price to
10-thousand.
The four men left in a newer
model, gray Chevrolet pickup truck with
a logo plate in front.
It was the second paving scam
complaint Bedford County has handled
this week.

Williams. The Hampton native was named
a finalist for the coveted Jim Thorpe
award on Tuesday and he's on everyone
all-American watch list.
It's an amazing turn of events
for a young man who just a season ago
was considered anything but a team
player and barred from talking to the
Media.
And that's isn't half of it.
JIMMY WILLIAMS
Growing up can be an eye opening
experience. Just ask fellow senior
Mike Imoh.
He's battled injuries, dealt with
suspensions and spent his share of time
in the Montgomery County Court House.
Saturday, he will run out onto
the Worsham Field turf for the final
time in his career.
MIKE IMOH
Imoh is struggling with two
injured ankles, but more than anyone he
wants to play Saturday. Last season
against the Tarheels he ran for a
school record 243 yards against North
Carolina.
