conference yesterday they have
impounded a vehicle in connection with
the death of 18 year old Brian
McCloskey.

McCloskey was found unconscious
on a bike path on November 5th with

severe head and body injuries.

For the first time yesterday,
McCloskey's family spoke out about his
death.

yesterday's flooding in Rockbridge
County are breathing a sigh of relief.

A local emergency was declared
along the South River yesterday, with
officials recommending voluntary

yesterday's heavy rains.

Nelson County authorities say
the James River in Scottsville is
expected to crest soon.

At mid-day yesterday, Route 56
west of Massies Mill in Nelson County
was covered with a foot of water.

It had no place to go except out
of its banks and over dozens of area
roadways.

Down the road in Amherst County,
the Lowesville area was hit hard as
well.

The Piney River had swollen to
four times its size and covered Woodson
Road, trapping some residents in their
houses and keeping others from getting
home.

robbing a Bedford Convenience store is
now in police custody.

VO-NAT Last night the 31 year old


suspect turned himself in.

Michael Brandon Crabtree showed
up at the Bedford County Sheriff's
office late last night wearing the same
clothes he had on during the robbery.

He reportedly told deputies he

Road because he needed money for drugs.

Valleydale will soon be closing its
doors.

The Smithfiled Packing Company
has announced plans to shift production
to other facilities beginning in
January.

than 300 jobs by the time the phase-out

is completed next summer.

Salem officials say the company's
departure is "like losing a good
friend," but officials say they are
hopeful that other economic development

yesterday granted clemency to death row
inmate Robin Lovitt.

for the attorney general's race.

Attorneys for Democrat Creigh
Deeds filed the necessary documents
with the Richmond Circuit Court
yesterday morning.

The court's chief judge and two
other judges appointed by the Chief
justice of the Virginia Supreme Court
will oversee the process.

The first hearing is next
Tuesday.

Deeds' lead attorney doesn't
expect the actual recount to take more

than two- days.

Once all the votes are counted
the three- judge panel will declare the
winner.

offering a better vision of what I- 81
may look like in the future.

phase of an environmental impact study.

It suggests putting eight lanes of
traffic on many sections of 81 from
Christiansburg to Lexington.

The study also says the interstate
may have to be re-located near the I-77

suspect wanted in the attack of a
William and Mary student.

The assault took place early
yesterday in an apartment complex not
far from campus.

The victim told police she woke
up to find the man standing over her
with a knife to her throat.

He then robbed and raped her,
telling her roommate to keep her eyes
closed.

A school official says the case
is a distressing reminder, that even in
a community as special as Williamsburg,

violence still occurs.
