PUSHING BACK AGAINST GROWING PUBLIC
DISCONTENT AND POLITICAL PRESSURE..

PRESIDENT BUSH LAUNCHED THE LATEST
DEFENSE OF HIS IRAQ WAR STRATEGY.

A STRATEGY THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE A
TIMETABLE FOR TROOP WITHDRAWAL.

BUSH 10:15:14 Pulling our troops out
before they've achieved their

purpose is not a plan for victory.

THE PRESIDENTS PLAN.. HINGES IN LARGE
PART ON THE READINESS OF IRAQI

SECURITY FORCES.

BUSH 10:14:16 As the Iraqi forces gain
experience and the political

process advances, we will be able to
decrease our troop levels in Iraq

without losing our capability to defeat
the terrorists.

MR. BUSH ACKNOWLEDGED SOME SETBACKS IN
TRAINING IRAQI FORCES.. BUT

TOUTED A LIST OF RECENT
ACCOMPLISHMENTS.. AND ASKED THE
AMERICAN PEOPLE

FOR PATIENCE.

DEMOCRATS WERE NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE
SPEECH OR (GFX) THE

ADMINISTRATIONS ACCOMPANYING DOCUMENT
ENTITLED OUR NATIONAL STRATEGY

FOR VICTORY IN IRAQ.

(Rep. John Murtha (D-PA))

MURTHA 19:20:20 I saw not one word that
I thought was progress or that

changed the plan that theyve been
saying they have which is no plan.

MANY DEMOCRATS SAY PRESIDENT BUSH IS
IGNORING HIS COMMANDERS ON THE

GROUND.. WHILE THE PRESIDENT INSISTS
THEIR ADVICE WILL DETERMINE HOW

MANY TROOPS ARE IN IRAQ AND WHEN THEY
CAN START COMING HOME.

STAND--UP CLOSE: THE PRESIDENT WILL
CONTINUE TO AGGRESSIVELY PROMOTE HIS

STRATEGY IN THE RUN-UP TO IRAQI
ELECTIONS WITH AT LEAST TWO MORE

SPEECHES BETWEEN NOW AND DECEMBER 15TH.

Nearly five years after the death
of the rail photographer, the caboose

returned to Roanoke Saturday.

It was built in 1965, and so it
is actually a decade too new to have
been included in any of Link's famous
photographs.

Nevertheless he took pride in
having his own caboose.

All the windows had been broken
out by vandals in upstate New York.

The refurbished caboose will
become a featured exhibit of the Link
