defrauding a Lynchburg charity, and two
social security recipients he

The seven count indictment
alleges, he took money from the charity
to pay off debts, stole from two
social security recipients for his
personal benefit, and then made false
statements and created false documents
to cover up the fraud.

an elected official is up to him.

There is no city ordinance that
would require him to resign ... and
state law only requires a resignation

after a conviction and appeals process.

Right now, council members want to
hear what Hutcherson has to say about
his future before they make any
judgements.

lake have resulted in a lawsuit for
some Smith Mountain Lake residents.

The residents say the developers
improperly installed the septic tanks
behind their homes, causing them to
cave in after a storm in 2003.

some new places for its programming.

This afternoon the governing body
of Stock Car racing announced that ESPN
and some other old friends are getting
back in the horsepower business.

NASCAR has signed an eight-year

television deal that's worth nearly
four and a half billion dollars. The
players this time around are Fox, ABC
Sports, ESPN and TNT.

ESPN was responsible for growing
NASCAR in the 80s, but to get back in
the fold - the Disney Corporation had
to pay $270 million dollars a

year to split the final 17 races on the
schedule between E-S-P-N

and A-B-C. The agreement includes all
ten races in the Chase for

the championship.

his budget will include more than 250-
million dollars to develop and promote
research at Virginia's colleges.

Another 300- million will come
from federal and private funds.


The proposal will help Virginia
Tech build a new technology building
and Infectious Disease Lab and attract
