an elderly widow last spring.

robbed and beaten in her Leesville Road
home May 6th.

Police arrested 18-year-old Shay
William Ward ten days later ... he was
17 when the crime occurred.

Ward told authorities he stole 700
dollars from his victim and used it to
pay for a limo, tuxedo and dinner on
his prom night.

He'll be sentenced as an adult in
April.

deputies continue to investigate a
reported threat made by a James River
High School student.

A parent contacted the Botetourt
County sheriff's department this
morning saying a 16-year-old sophomore
was bringing a gun to school to quote -
finish off some people.

Deputies detoured and searched
both the bus and the student.


No weapon was found.

The student has *NOT* been
suspended, but has been asked to stay
home for a few days for his own safety.

extensive damage.

Lifeline filed its invoice
promptly after employees returned but
six weeks later, Chief Financial
Officer Karen Jones says the company is
still waiting for payment.
