A bomb threat and a backpack proved to
be a lethal combination for
Rigoberto Alpizar. Air marshals
shot and killed the 44-year-old Florida
resident Wednesday after he
suddenly bolted from a plane that was
preparing to leave Miami.
sot: James Bauer/U.S. Marshall
(27:58:50)
"He uttered threatening words which
included he had a bomb."
Officals say Alpizar was reaching into
his bag just before the
shooting. No explosives were
found....following a quick and very
chaotic incident that had passengers
fearing for their lives.
sot: Tom Ferris/Passenger (23:41:13)
"Everyone was scared. I think everyone
thought back to September 11th,
this is what those people felt like
when they knew some thing was wrong."
sot: Sally Patrenos/Passenger
(23:39:17)
"There were gunshots fired and we all
dove for the floor and took
cover."
(Jennifer Donelan bridge)
Alpizar's wife was also on the
plane....passengers say she chased
after
her husband...trying to explain he was
mentally ill and had not taken
his medication.
sot: Mike Deshears/Passenger (23:47:20)
"She indicated he was sick, was
bipolar, she apologized for all the
chaos."
Authorities say Alpizar, who had just
returned from Peru, had no
terrorist connections. He lived in the
Orlando area and by neighbor's
accounts was a pleasant man and not the
type to cause trouble.
After the shooting, authorities spread
passengers bags on the tarmac
and detonated a couple as a precaution.
Thousands of air marshals have been
flying uncover since 9/11, and none
have ever fired their weapon in the
line of duty....that is...until
yesterday.

GRAPHIC=SCAM ALERT 7 Animation Today's Scam Alert 7 Report is a list
of things to remember when shopping
online. If you are purchasing gifts
this holiday season using your
computer, Scambusters dot org offers
the following things to keep in mind
before you go on your spending spree.
*CG 11500
Take- "Don't use a debit card for Don't use a debit card for online
online shopping" shopping. If there is a problem, a
debit card could give phishers or
hackers access to your entire checking
and/or savings account. Plus, most
debit cards don't have the same
protections that credit cards offer.
Take- "Make sure all of your security Make sure all of your security software
software is up-to-date" is up-to-date before you do your online
shopping. That includes anti-virus
software, anti-spyware software, and
firewalls
Take- "Use a separate email account for Use a separate email account for your
your online shopping" online shopping. You can set up a free
email account on Google's Gmail or
Yahoo, among others.
Take- "Check the privacy policy of any Check the privacy policy of any website
website you plan to purchase from" you plan to purchase from. Make sure
first of all that they HAVE a privacy
policy, that your data stays private to
the merchant, and that they don't sell
or rent your information to third
parties
Take- "Never enter personal information Never enter personal information into a
into a pop-up screen" pop-up screen. Unauthorized pop-up
screens can be created by identity
thieves and the screen may be
completely unrelated to the websites
you are visiting. Legitimate companies
don't ask you to enter personal or
financial information on pop-up
screens.
Take- "Never respond to emails asking Never respond to emails asking you to
you to "confirm" recent transactions "confirm" recent transactions after you
after you shop" shop. These are phishing scams that
coincidentally are sent around the time
you shop.

Shopping online can be a great way to
avoid the hustle and bustle of the
malls. Just remember that even though
you're the only one in front of the
computer, you're not shopping alone.
