County has died in Iraq.

(COO-Buh-sack) was killed near Baghdad
late Sunday or early Monday.
We understand his mother was
notified of his death while working at
the Franklin County courthouse.

GRAPHIC=Iraq, US Troops Three police officers from
Roanoke City were injured during an
explosion over the weekend in Iraq.

VO-NAT Relatives of Christopher Dillon,
Kevin Assenat Ass-uh-nate and Shane
Fletcher say the troops were headed to
a polling site near Baghdad, when their
humvees ran over a roadside bomb.
Each suffered eye injuries,
although it appears Dillon's injuries
were more severe.
The police officers are members
of the 2nd Army Brigade in Salem, which
was deployed to Iraq on Mother's day.
All three men are expected to
recover.
Another soldier from their unit,
Lynchburg firefighter Nathan Chapman,
was also hurt.
He too is expected to be okay.

still unclear, an arraignment date has
been set for Carl Hutcherson.

Lynchburg's Mayor made an initial
appearance in federal court yesterday
morning on charges he defrauded two
Social Security recipients and a
charity connected to the church where
he was pastor.
His attorney says an announcement
will be made later this week on whether
Hutcherson will stay on as mayor.
Hutcherson will be arraigned
December 29th in Roanoke.
The trial itself will take place
in Lynchburg.

Medicaid system, some lawmakers believe
it is outdated and have come up with
ways to fix it.

Two- thirds of Virginia's nursing
home patients qualify for Medicaid.
The health-care program costs the
Commonwealth five- billion- dollars
every year.
To help make it more efficient,
House Republicans want to create
health- savings- accounts that would
give Medicaid recipients incentives for
maintaining healthy lifestyles.
During the upcoming legislative
session they'll also propose using
electronic transfers.
That would allow patients to pay
their health providers with something
similar to a debit card.

setbacks, a Rocky Mount family is
hoping for a miracle.

had the perfect life until their dream
home was ruined.
Robin's career was put on hold
because of the house's cracked
foundation.
They still thought they'd be OK,
until Lance had a bad fall.
Now, he's recovering in the

family is at a loss this holiday
season.

who entered a store wearing a ski mask,
showing a knife, and looking for money.
