Like the driver heading slowly down
Brandon Avenue. Witnesses say he was
doing about 20 when he hit an icy spot,
crashed through a fence, and ended in a
creek.

The driver was not hurt. Several
people stopped to help him out.

There's no word whether he'll face
charges.

Icy roads also contributed to an
accident in Bedford County.

It happened around two o'clock on
Route 24 just up the road from Staunton
River High School.

State Police say the driver of the
Grand-Am overcorrected, crossed the
median, and then hit an S-U-V head on.

Both vehicles went down an
embankment.

No serious injuries reported.

Route 24 was closed in both
directions for nearly an hour and a
half while the accident was cleared up.

That was the case for this driver. She
was merging when she lost control and
went over this embankment. After a few
minutes and some maneuvering she was
able to get back on track and head on
her way.

crashes as they expected in an ice
storm.

in the next 20- years by 6.9 million

cancellations at both Roanoke and
Lynchburg airports.

coming in and taking off again-

The airport spokeswoman says the
precipitation has slowed down and
several fights have been able to take
off-

In Lynchburg- Delta cancelled
several flights but planes are
beginning to get back in the air there
as well.

If you are flying, you may want to
check with the individual airline..
before heading to the airport.
