JEAN ON CAM JEAN ON CAM

GRAPHIC=None There's a new type of "rapping"

gaining popularity this Christmas.. and
it has nothing to do with presents.

Some Churches are putting a new
"spin" on the gospel.. using hip hop

to attract a younger audience.

Tracie Strahan reports.

TRK: When Scripture says to "make a

joyful noise" (nat... Amen...

Word... ) this probably wasn't
imagined. (Jesus... Lord!)

SOT: Sabrina Hawkins : Hip Hop Believer

this church makes me feel like i can be
myself... if you feel like

jumping for joy and doing a certain
dance, than that's okay with me.

TRK: Holy Hip-Hop is hyping a handful
of congregations from Harlem...

nat: je, je, Jesus!

TRK: to Dallas, and sunny Florida...
where a new breed of spiritual

leader is preaching the "word" to a
younger flock of worshippers.

Rev Stephen Pogue - Greater Hood
Church, NY

God created Hip -Hop so we are just
taking back what the enemy has

corrupted and giving it back to the
creator and giving him glory with

it...

NAT: everybody clap your hands....

TRK: One of the men helping put a ..new
spin.. on the old testament - a

genuine forefather of the hip hop
movement...rapper, kurtis blow.

SOT-(Kurtis Blow: Rapper) Jesus, spoke

to the people in parables and

stories that they could relate to back
then. // 34:35:02 and that's the

whole idea in the hip hop church - we
give it to them in a language that

they understand - I think Jesus would
probably be a rapper if he was

here today"

STANDUP: Tracie Strahan / New York

putting the Bible to a beat didn't just
grab attention, for many

emergent hip hop churches, it also
helped pack the pews

SOT-(Rev Stephen Pogue - Greater Hood

Church, NY) even in our choir

we've got 'em young as 5 and old as 45

TRK: But the new hymns are getting a
ho-hum reaction from "old school"

church goers who can't seem to shake
the music's ..bad.. rapsomething

this hip hop pastor can understand.

(SOT / Pastor Tommy Kyllonen/ Crossover

Church, Fl.)

but if they can see it in the genuine
form of God redeeming it. Like

here and other places in the country,
they can see lives are genuinely

being touched by God.

SOT (craig fennen/"craig nice" /

Crossover Church - too quick to chyron)

I got here and I was like (sigh) I'm
home.

TRK: Home amid the faithful - who are
determined to - as the good book

says - "Sing to the Lord a New Song."
Tracie Strahan, CBS News, New York.

GRAPHIC=None An Ohio man hopes business is dead.

ENG#=3 VO-NAT

VO-NAT With all the violence on T-V and in

movies these days, there's a
never-ending demand for dead guys in

Hollywood. Where do they find these
bodies? One place to look is
Deadbodyguy-dot-com.

Chuck Lamb of Columbus, Ohio has set
up a Web site showing photos of himself
pretending to be dead. He hopes

casting agents will notice.
