County responded to a fire on East
Agusta Avenue.

There were no injuries, but a
family has been displaced.

The fire was contained to the
furnace area of the house.

It took fire fighters a half hour

areas.

More than 800 people are at work,
including crews from other companies in
other states.

Appalachian Power officials

to be on alert and to report any
suspicious vehichles. This warnging
comes after two men were robbed
yesterday in front of their own homes.

The robberies happened in the 700 block
of Holland Road during the Noon hour,
and about 90 minutes later in the 300
block of Cumberland Drive.

Police say in both cases, the robber

got out of a small, dark-colored car
parked nearby. They are investigating
whether the cases are related.

on seven counts that include charges of
bank fraud, Social Security fraud and
obstruction of justice.

They stem from questions the
government has about the mayor's
personal financial dealings and the way

Mountain Lake homeowners. They have won
a lawsuit against a developer and real
estate company.

They reportedly spent more than a
half million dollars on repairs.

This week, a Franklin County jury

Agusta Avenue.

There were no injuries, but the
family has been displaced.

The fire was contained to the
furnace area of the house.

GRAPHIC=Accident Police are investigating an

accident in Blacksburg yesterday that
left five people injured.

Two people were transported to a
Roanoke hospital with serious injuries.

One is in stable condition, and a
73 year-old woman is in serious
condition.

According to police, two vehicles
collided on South Main Street shortly
after 5 o'clock.

Police closed lanes in both
directions for two hours in order to
clear the scene.

Charges are pending the outcome of
the investigation.

way, teachers will get a pay-raise and
some local museums will be included in
the upcoming budget.

Warner released the rest of his
spending plan yesterday.

since a Pulaski County man was
convicted in the murder of a Radford
College student -- though her body was
never found.

a life sentence.

To this day he insists he did not
kill the Radford freshman from Coeburn.
Gina Hall was never seen again- -dead
or alive.

Epperly's conviction marked the
first time anyone in Virginia had been

found beneath the railroad trestle.

traffic wreck pled guilty to driving
under the influence yesterday.

VO-NAT Five year old Ryan Danson Phipps

was killed in a wreck last November.

He was taken to the hospital and
released, but he died later at home.

His family was later awared a
settlement against the hospital, but
Phipps signed away his rights to any of
the money.

He'll spend 90 days of a one year
term in jail, pay a fine, and attend an
alcohol treatment program.
