public's help.
Police are looking for a woman
wanted for attempted murder and felony
hit and run.

Police say 25-year-old Leiben
Patrick struck a 28-year-old female and
a three-year-old girl on Dean Drive.
It happened sometime yesterday
afternoon.
The child was airlifted to
Roanoke Memorial and is listed in
stable condition.

Patrick, and the car she was driving.
The car is described as a 19-89
white Mazda two-door sedan, with the
license plate tag: JPZ-3664

Stewartsville sent five people to the
hospital.

It happened shortly before four
o'clock yesterday afternoon in the
five-thousand block of Jordantown Road.
Officials say 26-year-old Billy
Evans crashed his Ford Ranger head-on
with a car -- driven by a 15-year-old
boy.
There were three passengers in
the truck, including a four-year-old
and an 18-month old.
The 18-month-old was airlifted to
Roanoke Memorial hospital.
The conditions of the juveniles
are unknown.

of another accident in Hillsville.

happened on Route 221 early this
morning.
The female driver of this SUV
slid on an icy patch of road in a turn,
and went off the road.
The car landed upside in a creek.
Officials say the woman was taken
to Wake Forest *Baptist Medical Center*
in Winston-Salem.
She's listed as an extremely
critical patient.

still trying to figure out what caused
a fire that left one woman dead.

Fire investigators responded to
this house in the six-thousand block of
Fox Trail early yesterday morning.
When firefighters arrived, flames
were pouring from the house and the
roof had partially collapsed.
One person was found dead inside
the house.
Officials aren't releasing the
victim's name until the family has
been notified.
The cause of the fire is still
under investigation.
Authorities do NOT suspect arson
or foul play.

Louisiana residents lit miles of
massive bonfires along the levee tops
of the Mississippi River this Christmas
weekend.
The bonfires, which are meant to
help Santa Claus find his way to the
bayou -- have been a tradition for
almost half a century.
Most of them are fashioned into
20-foot-tall tepee-like structures.
The Mississippi River bonfires
attract thousands of spectators.
Locals have spent weeks building
the frameworks.

finding the children who COULDN'T make
it home to the bonfires this year.
He sent rapper Ludacris to spread
some holiday cheer to 250 children in
Atlanta who were devastated by
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Ludracris gave out X-boxes, bikes,
TVs, D-V-Ds and all sorts of toys and
games to the kids.
He says he just wants to give back
to his community and believes there is
no better way than making some kid's

Green Bay. Although he didn't put up
gawdy numbers, Grossman just led
Chicago to its first divisional title
