accident this morning.

It happened around nine on
Interstate- 581 just south of Peter's
Creek Road.
Police say 44- year- old Vincent
Lee Payne was driving his Subaru onto
581- south when he crossed all three
lanes and the median.
After becoming airborne, his
station wagon flipped and hit a Toyota
van heading north.
Payne died at the scene.
The driver of the van was treated
for injuries and later released.
State Police are still
investigating the crash.

police are still looking for his
killer.

Early this morning, police
responding to call for a gunshot and
found 18-year old Mario O'Brien
Williams.
He had been shot inside a car at
the intersection of Locust Lane and
Third Avenue.
Williams was taken to Danville
Regional Hospital where he later died.

rescued a mother and her infant from
their burning apartment.

The fire started just before 4-30
this morning at the Christiansburg
Bluff Apartments.
21 year-old April Elkashef called
9-1-1 saying she and her five month-old
baby, Kacie were trapped in the bedroom
and running out of air.
Sergeant Kevin Tucker was the
first to arrive.
He kicked in the door, and felt
his way to the mother and child.
After helping them get to safety,
Tucker went back in to put out the
fire.

Bush.

a foot injury in November, Bush managed

apparently in big trouble.

allegation that linebacker A.J.
Nicholson shown here trying to avoid
reporters this morning, sexually
assaulted a 19-year-old woman at the
Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa - the team
hotel for the Seminoles.
At practice this morning, Head
Coach Bobby Bowden said he had sent
Nicholson home for violating team
policy. The Winston-Salem native led
the team in tackles this year. In
August, he pleaded no contest to
misdemeanor DUI, and was ordered to
serve six months' probation.
