a murder.
Officers were called to the
intersection of Locust Lane and Third
Avenue around 2:30 this morning.
That's where they reportedly
found a man inside a vehicle who
appeared to have been shot.
The victim who has been
identified as 18 year old Mario O'Brien
Williams of Blairs was taken to
Danville Regional Medical Center where
he died.
His body has been sent medical
examiner's office in Roanoke for
autopsy.

search for a suspect involved in a
shooting at a Roanoke car wash.

It happened just after nine
o-clock yesterday morning at The Clean
Machine car wash on the corner of 35th
and Melrose.
Police say 25-year-old Leman
Ransome of Roanoke was shot twice
before a suspect in a blue car took
off.
Witnesses say they heard yelling
before the gunfire.
Ransome was taken to Roanoke
Memorial Hospital.
Police say his injuries are not
life threatening.

Junior is due in federal court in
Roanoke today.
He's expected to be arraigned on
charges he defrauded two Social
Security recipients and a charity
connected to the church where he was
pastor.
His appearance in court comes two
weeks after he announced he wouldn't
resign as mayor or leave city council,
despite being indicted.

support, and not enough good employees.
The Western Sizzlin' at
Crossroads shut down this week, too,
when the lease expired.
The franchise owner says he had
tried to buy the building to fix it up,
but was unable to close the deal.

Tech students has closed.
Wade's Supermarket along North
Main Street shut down December Tenth.
The landmark building has been a
part of the community since the 70's.
Plans are in the works to sell
the building to the Y-M-C-A.
Another Wade's Supermarket
remains in Blacksburg as well as
several others in Christiansburg,
Radford, Pearisburg and Dublin.

many loyal Hokie fans are heading south
to the Gator Bowl.

robber who has hit two local banks
within the last two days.

A teller said the man came
through the drive through- started a
transaction and then demanded money.
Police won't say how much he got
away with.
Investigators say it may have
been the same man who held up the
Suntrust Bank on Williamson Road
Tuesday night around 5:30.
They say the suspect was driving
a bluish, four-door sedan in both
robberies.

GRAPHIC=Hold Authorities in Henry County are
investigating the death of a
three-month-old boy at his home.
The sheriff's department says the
baby's mother called the rescue squad
just after midnight Wednesday.
Brenda L. White of Bassett said
she had found her son, Mayson Dean, in
a chair in the den.
She said the baby was not
breathing.
Paramedics tried to revive him,
but were unsuccesful.
The body was sent to the medical
examiner in Roanoke for an autopsy.

he never made comments about openly gay
comedian Ellen DeGeneres that were
attributed to him in the December 18th
edition of Los Angeles Times.
The newspaper reported that
Falwell blamed DeGeneres for the 9-11
