Village apartment complex in Danville
has left one person dead and another
injured.

Nearby officers heard the gunfire
and were told that a man in apartment
H-61 had been shot.

That's where they found 19 year
old Terrance Jamal Barley of Danville
dead of an apparent gunshot wound to
the head.

Additional units noticed a
suspicious vehicle leaving the
apartment complex.

The driver did not stop and
continued speeding-- headed south on
Piney Forest Road.

39 year old Keith Lorenzo
Fitzgerald of Danville was apprehended
after turning onto Beauregard Street.

He has been charged with first
degree murder of Terrance Barley.

The 34- year- old believes the
city should tear down Victory Stadium
and build a new five- thousand seat
amphitheater in its place above flood

replacement has taken over.

Tom Bowers was sworn in yesterday
morning in the Salem Circuit courthouse
surrounded by his family, friends, and
co-workers.

The office became vacant earlier
this year when Fred King was appointed
judge.

Since that time Charlene Day and
David Rydin have headed the office.

Day left in November and Rydin
recently resigned.

Bowers says his chief concern is
providing stability and consistency to

the office, while serving the citizens
of Salem.

today thanks to the heroic actions of a
Christiansburg police officer.

Sergeant Kevin Tucker rescued 21
year-old April Elkashef and her five
month-old baby from their burning
apartment.

The fire started just before 4-30
yesterday morning at the Christiansburg
Bluff Apartments.

Elkashef told 9-1-1 she and her
baby were trapped in the bedroom and
running out of air.

When Sergeant Tucker arrived, he
kicked in the door and felt his way to
the mother and child.

Once they were safe, Tucker went
back in to put out the fire.

Federal district court on seven-charges
that he cheated Social Security
