GRAPHIC=Iraq South Korea has decided to pull out

a third of its troops from Iraq.

The country did, however, extend

the stay of the remaining troops until
the end of 2006.

Meanwhile, an international
commission is set to review the
historic parliamentary elections, but
it's unclear whether that'll help calm
political tensions or the recent surge
in violence.

Susan Roberts has more.

TRACK:

After days of protests a slight
victory... An international election

commission says

it will review Iraq's historic

parliamentary elections.

TRACK:

Thousands of Sunni Arabs and secular
Shiites have been demanding an

investigation into

some 1500 complaints of voter fraud.
An internal review board had said

only 50 of those accusations were
serious and a United Nations

representive earlier this week endorsed
the December 15th election as

credible and accurate.

But Sunnis have rejected that and are
demanding the election be rerun.

(natsot - bombing aftermath)

TRACK:

An uptick in violence is also targeting
the government's fragile

infrastructure. The latest -- a suicide
bomber killed at least four

Iraqi policemen and wounded a number of
others at a checkpoint near the

interior ministry Thursday.

TRACK:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
is in the region talking to

troops. The Pentagon

says it hopes to reduce the number of
troops stationed there but the

Bush administration

will not lay out a specific timetable
saying it will embolden the

terrorists

SOT: David Boaz/CATO Institute

THEY'D LKE TO GET THE WAR OFF THE TABLE
BY THE 2006 ELECTIONS, ABOUT 10

MONTHS FROM NOW.

THE BEST WAY TO DO THAT IS TO LEAVE
WITH A SUCCESSFUL DEMOCRACTIC IRAQ.

TRACK:

It's unclear whether the international
review would delay the official

election results but

the ongoing issue could jeopardize
Iraq's progress.

STAND UP BRIDGE/Susan Roberts/CBS News

AND THAT WOULD NOT BE GOOD NEWS FOR THE
BUSH WHITE HOUSE. THE PRESIDENT

IS

EXPECTED TO CONTINUE PUSHING HIS STRONG

STANCE ON IRAQ WHEN HE RETURNS

FROM HIS CRAWFORD, TEXAS RANCH AFTER
THE NEW YEAR. SUSAN ROBERTS, News 7.

Six months ago this week a Tennessee

(END SOT) This is the first time Craig Hutto's

thrown a baseball since that fateful
family vacation to Florida this past
June ...

SOT Craig Hutto

It feels the same ... my leg ain't no
different.

A natural athlete Craig can still throw
heat.

What's amazing is he's doing it on only
one natural leg.

Six months ago, a bull shark attacked
him in the waters off Panama City
Beach.

He remembers the moment ...

SOT It was like if your foot goes to

sleep and you wake up and it hurts ...

a vibration feel.

The shark took most of his right leg
... and lacerated his hands ...

SOT You see where the shark -- tooth

dug in there.

Craig was pulled to the beach and
nearly died from the loss of blood.

But, now he's home ... enjoying the
holidays ... playing some catch ... and
still practicing his true sport of
choice -- basketball ...

SOT

You got a sweet outside jumper ... I
vary ... I vary.

Craig's good -- sinking jumper after
jumper mostly off only one leg ...

SOT

The only thing I can't do that anybody
can do is go up stairs.

Actually, he can do that too -- just
one foot at time.

His prosthetic leg mimics a real one
...

SOT

There's a computer in this you toe off
and goes to free knee like you're
walking.

Sometimes people ask Craig if he'll
ever go in the ocean again?

He says why not?

What are the chances of getting bitten
by a shark twice?

It was rare to happen once ... and now
Craig figures he'll make the best of it
... down to the artwork or tattoo on
his new leg.

That shark bite tattoo is almost
Craig's way of winking at what happened
... to say that the attack won't keep
him down. Nick Beres for CBS News.
