Roanoke neighborhood has now been
declared a homicide.

Friday -- in the backyard of a house on
Staunton Avenue.

It was identified as 18-year-old
Calvin Mack.

Police say someone shot Mack
multiple times.

Investigators are now asking for

well for some residents at one Roanoke
apartment.

Fire and rescue crews responded
to a fire in the one-hundred block of
18th Street around four this afternoon.

They found heavy smoke and fire,
but quickly got the blaze under
control.

Three people escaped the
apartment without injuries.

The Red Cross has been contacted
to offer the family assistance.

Though the fire was contained to
the bedroom, damages are estimated at
about 100-thousand dollars.

this morning after State Police say he
wrecked his pick-up truck yesterday
afternoon.

Hillsville Volunteer Fire Dept. Police say 55-year-old Danny
Castle Midkiff was found dead inside
his truck around 10 o'clock.

Troopers say Midkiff ran off of
the left side of Route 52 near Fancy
Gap and struck a tree.

The crash killed him instantly.

Midkiff's truck wasn't spotted
until this morning.

Police say he was NOT wearing a
seat belt.

residents in Northern California.

the area Saturday -- leaving some
places up to seven inches of rain.

The town of Guerneville was cut
off by the Russian River -- which
crested more than 10 feet above flood
level.

Water gushed into low lying areas
of the city flooding several homes --
but sparing the downtown area.

Officials continue to urge some
residents to evacuate.

About 50 people were camped out
in three local shelters.

least some of California's rain.

30 miles an hour have firefighters and
state emergency officials concerned.

They're monitoring areas that
were scorched by wildfires in recent
days.

The fires have burned tens of

and three others in Texas.

Oklahoma officials are telling
residents to

on his own to Iraq is now back home.

16-year-old Farris Hassan was
reunited with his family tonight
outside Miami International Airport.

Hassan left Florida without
permission last month --to experience
the lives and struggles of the Iraqi
people firsthand.

He reached Baghdad Christmas Day

and spent time there until walking into
the Associated Press bureau two days
later.

The State Department has warned
Americans not to visit Iraq.

Ten U-S citizens have died in the
past three years -- and about 15 are
missing.

Norv Turner was the head coach in
Washington and the Redskins were in the
Playoffs. Those may not be the true

glory days of the Skins, but Joe Gibbs
has Washington back in the post-season
for the first time since that 99
season.

Fox The reason, is that the Redskins
went on the road to Philly and beat a
depleated Eagles squad

But things didn't look good
early, Reggie Brown hauled in his
second touchdown catch of the game and
the Eagles led 17 to 7.

Washington would come-back though
and who else Clinton Portis, His 2
yard touchdown run tied the game up at
17 and Redskin fans were no longer on
life support.

That's because Portis had it
under control, watch the pretty spin
move at the line of scrimmage and then
turn on the jets and dive for the
endzone, 24 to 20, Washington leads.

The Game would be sealed by the
defense. Phillip Daniels knocks the
ball loose and Sean Taylor picks it up
and takes it to the house for his first

Bowl aspirations to begin the season,
come game 16 they were out of the
playoffs. They did have a chance to
affect the postseason picture.

did nothing of the sort as they totally
went through the motions this
afternoon.

The Panther's had some range of
motion problems and that led to the
uniform of Panthers Q-B Jake Delhomme
giving him some extra room. Didn't

want the deir air hanging out so he
taped it up and went to work.

The tape job must have worked
cause Delhomme threw a Touchdown pass
to Ricky Proehl from 12 yards out and
Carolina the led 7 to nothing.

Carolina was just getting
starated, Deshaun Foster busts one
off from 70 yards out and he isn't
stopping until the endzone and a score
of 14 to 3. Foster had a big day
rushing for 165 yards.

But they miss out on the playoffs,
Cincinnati will host Pittsburgh in the
first round next Sunday at 4:30, a game

People of all ages jumped into
Lake Minnetonka today for the New
Year's Day tradition sponsored by the
American Lung Association.

Normally, the temperatures are
frigid on January 1st, but this year's
readings were in the mid 20s.

But there was still plenty of

snow on the lake to keep it cold.
