THE GROUP GOT STUCK EARLY THIS MORNING
AFTER AN EXPLOSION AT THE SAGO

100 MILES FROM CHARLESTON.

SIX MINERS ESCAPED IMMEDIATELY AFTER
THE BLAST.... BUT WHEN CO-WORKERS

SAY THE BLAST WAS SO POWERFUL,

IT SHOOK THEIR HOMES.

WHILE OUTSIDE CREWS ARE DOING
EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO HELP....ONE

MINER BELIEVES THE TRAPPED WORKERS ARE
MOST LIKELY DOING THE SAME.

SOT - Rick Dunlap / Former Miner

"I would try to establish communication
if all possible, and if I

couldn't I'd look for self contained

AT THIS POINT OFFICIALS SAY THERE'S
BEEN NO CONTACT WITH THE

MINERS...AND WHAT'S MAKING RESCUE
EFFORTS EVEN MORE DIFFICULT IS A

DANGEROUSLY HIGH LEVEL OF METHANE
GAS...THAT GAS HAS TO BE CLEARED FROM

THE SHAFTS BEFORE RESCUERS CAN KEEP
WORKING.

BACK IN JULY 2002 NINE MINERS WERE
RESCUED NEAR SOMERSET, PENNSYLVANIA

AFTER BEING TRAPPED FOR 77 HOURS. AND
IN SEPTEMBER, 2001 13-COAL

Firefighters found flames and heavy

morning.

They were able to knock the fire

30 thousand dollars in damage.

Two people were home at the time,

Preliminary evidence suggests an

Pigs at this farm are being
pampered to improve the quality of
their meat.

The pigs drink beer and have regular
exercise sessions in an indoor swimming

Farmer Craig Walsh says the grain in
beer improves the pigs' fat reserves.

The pork chops produced from these
