FOLLOWING THEIR HARROWING NIGHT, SOME

SURVIVED THE BLAST THAT TRAPPED THEM IN

MAKING MATTERS WORSE..... OVARIAN
CANCER IS ONE OF THE DEADLIEST

CANCERS..... AND ONE OF THE HARDEST FOR

THE STANDARD TREATMENT IS CHEMOTHERAPY.

BUT SOME DOCTORS ARE TRYING SOMETHING
DIFFERENT.

THEYRE STILL USING THE SAME CHEMO...
THEY'RE JUST DELIVERING IT IN A

NEW WAY.

CHEMO DRUGS ARE USUALLY SENT INTO AN
ARM VEIN..... TRAVEL THROUGH THE

IN ANITA'S CASE DOCTORS ARE TAKING A
MORE DIRECT APPROACH.... WITH A

METHOD CALLED I-P.

WITH THIS TREATMENT THE DRUGS ARE SHOT
RIGHT INTO THE ABDOMEN.....

HITTING THE CANCER WITH A MORE
CONCENTRATED DOSE.

AND A STUDY IN THE NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL

EFFECTIVE.

PATIENTS WHO GOT I-P LIVED AN AVERAGE
OF 16 MONTHS LONGER THAN WOMEN ON

TRADITIONAL CHEMO.

N-Y-U'S DOCTOR JOHN CURTIN BELIEVES
THESE RESULTS WILL EVENTUALLY MAKE

I-P A FIRST LINE OF THERAPY.

(SOT- Dr. John Curtin/NYU Cancer

"I think this study will hopefully, uh,

make this a more common practice."

THE DOWNSIDE OF I-P?..... THE SIDE
EFFECTS CAN BE MORE SEVERE.

BUT ANITA IS WILLING TO DEAL WITH IT.

But it's also in hundreds of snack
foods and even some products you
wouldn't suspect, like dinner rolls.
Role of thumb if it's been processed
there is a good chance it has trans
fat.

So what exactly is trans fat? You
might be surprised to learn it's
something that food makers developed,
as an alternative to saturated fat.

So does that mean saturated fat is
better for you, not necessarily. Both
have health risks, that's why
Registered Dietitian Heather Cox says
you should look at the amounts together
when choosing a food.

She says you should add the total
amount of trans fat and saturated fat
together, if that number is higher than
a third of the total fat in the product
it's not the best choice.

So that takes us back to the number
one culprit of trans fat stick
margarine, does that mean you should be
switching to butter.

Kwan has withdrawn from the U-S
Figure Skating Championships with a
groin injury-

Despite that, Kwan will petition
for a spot on the U-S olympic team that
leaves for Italy next month.

The nine time national champion
and five time world gold medalist
missed nearly all of this season with
injuries but she was expected to skate
next week in St. Louis where the team
will be picked.

Kwan hopes to get one of three spots
on the team.

The 25 year old won silver in 1998
and bronze in 2002.
