an accident tied up traffic there for
several miles.

State Police say a single
tractor-trailer accident forced the
highway to close in both directions --
until late this afternoon.

Traffic on the interstate and
Route-11 was backed up for 20 miles in
both directions.

Both LEFT lanes remain closed
tonight, as officials dig up soil to
remove spilled fuel.

Police expect the scene to be
cleared by tomorrow evening.

No injuries were reported.

in Iraq.

A blackhawk helicopter crashed
late Saturday night near the Syrian
border -- killing 12 Americans.

The military says it's
investigating the cause of the crash.

Elsewhere, five Marines were
killed on the ground ... three in
small-arms attacks near Fallujah -- two
others in separate roadside bomb
attacks.

The helicopter crash was the
deadliest in Iraq in almost a year.

Researchers are now looking into
the possibility that lightning from a
round of strong wintertime
thunderstorms on Monday morning may be
to blame for an explosion at the Sago
underground coal mine in Upshur County.

Myranda, WeatherBug, the same
company that maintains a network of
neighborhood weather stations, also
operates 100 lightning sensors across
the U.S.

After Monday's explosion,
researchers at WeatherBug and Virginia
Tech began looking into a relationship
between lighting strikes that hit

around the mine, and the explosion that
occurred moments later.

There was one strike in particular that
was very close to the entrance of the
mine.

WeatherBug officials then
contacted the Department of Geosciences
at Virginia Tech, who recorded seismic
activity at 6:26:38am, just 2 seconds
after the lightning strike at the Sago
mine.

alone wouldn't cause the blast. Gas can
build up in a mine after just one day
of idled operations, especially in the
winter, when the barometric pressure
drops. Also, the metal casings of
abandoned natural gas wells above a
mine can conduct an electrical current
into the ground.

brothers last night..

street was robbed at knifepoint.

Police got the call shortly after
eleven-- but found the brothers after
callers reported seeing a suspicous
vehicle.

Montague Mont-uh-que, and his brother,
Rayshawn Samor Montague Mont-uh-que
were both charged with robbery.

They're currently in the Danville
city jail without bond.

SEVEN people in Richmond may have been
involved in crimes elsewhere.

whether there are similarities with the
Richmond cases and any others.

Ray Joseph Dandridge and Ricky
Gray -- both 28 -- were arrested in
Philadelphia Saturday and charged with
conspiracy to commit murder and auto
theft.

An extradition hearing could come
as soon as Monday.

Police believe the men are
responsible for killing two Richmond
families last week.

Investigators believe robbery may
have been the motive in both cases.

helping hand to local farmers affected
by drought.

announced recently that federal money
will be available for farmers in
Southwest Virginia who suffered crop
losses.

Eleven counties, including Giles,
Wythe and Pulaski, have been designated

as primary disaster areas after the
lack of rainfall in 2005.

Several other counties qualify
for money because they're adjacent to
the federal disaster areas.

To qualify for aid -- farmers had
to lose 30-percent of their income.

area.

To make-up for that, Salem
