When the curtain rose last night on
"The Phantom of the Opera," it did so
for the seven- thousand- 486th time,
making "Phantom" the new king of
Broadway longevity.

Creator Andrew Lloyd Webber,
original "Phantom" Michael Crawford,
and many other actors who have appeared
in the production took part in a
special curtain call last night.

The melodrama about a disfigured
composer who falls for a young soprano
opened on January 26, 19-88.

It's run for nearly 18 years.

A vintage 19-65 N-&-W red caboose is
becoming a permanant part of the O.
Winston Link Museum in Roanoke.

You're looking at a live picture from
behind the museum.

The caboose was given to the famed
photographer by Norfolk Southern in 19-
89.

Since Link's death in 2001, it was
stored in Rome, New York.

It took the efforts of many
organizations-- who donated their
services to get the caboose to the
museum.

It is the largest artifact at the
museum, which has been open for exactly

two years.
