age of 62

1997 Braine who spent 10 years in
Blacksburg overseeing the Athletic
Department is leaving his post with the
Yellow Jackets due to Crohn's disease.
Braine is hoping that the life of
leisure will lead to less stress and
allow him to cope with the disease
better. Braine's tenure in Blacksburg
saw him oversee the Hokies moving into
the Big East in Football and the A-10
in other sports which was part of the
path that got Tech into the A-C-C.
Braine also had football coaching stops
at V-M-I, Richmond, and U-V-A.
Charlottesville is where he started his
administrative career.

retail stores is scaling back its
workforce.
K-Mart stores across the country
are laying off workers, including those
in the Roanoke Valley.
Recently, nearly a dozen workers
were let go from the Salem store.
