Schoolfield weaving plant will be
closed around March 14th.

About 500 people will lose their
jobs.

Dan River says it tried to find a
way to keep the weaving factory open.

But the pressure from low-cost
foreign imports was too much.

A company in India recently

move most of the jobs to a new plant

bicentennial celebration.

Several buildings in Pearisburg,
the county seat, are being completely
renovated thanks to grant money and
matching funds from building owners.

The cost of the work will top one
million dollars, and town officials

but today's his attorneys successfully
argued to have it postponed until
March.

Prosecutors say Taylor pointed a
gun during the dispute last summer, and
he is charged with aggravated assault
with a firearm and simple battery.
Taylor, who has pleaded not guilty,
faces up to 16 years in prison if
convicted.

UHL ice. Marc Potvin

the coach of the Adirondack Frostbite
was found dead in a hotel room this
morning, just hours before his team was
to take the ice in Kalamazoo,

Michigan.

Potvin is a former N-H-L
player,who was just 38. Police says
there is no evidence of foul play and
that an autopsy is scheduled for
tomorrow.

Adirondack will be in Roanoke
this coming Wednesday.
