killed in an early morning auto
accident.

They say 23 year-old Donato
Rosas-Lopez died at the scene of the
accident on Orange Avenue in northeast
Roanoke.
According to police, Lopez was
the passenger in the Honda Accord that
hit an Explorer attempting to turn onto
11th street around two o'clock Sunday
morning.
The Explorer then hit a third
car.
All the occupants of that car
fled.
Police say 25 year-old Lazaro
Santiago-Garcia was DRIVING the Honda
and he is listed in critical condition.
38-year old Nicolas Pena-Velerio
was driving the Explorer.
He was treated and released.

scene after the car she was riding in
hit another vehicle.

*worse* than ever, 75-percent of whites
said no, compared to only 45-percent of
blacks.

a place to go to honor the victims of
9/11.

of the county's Rotary Club went to New
York to retrieve metal from the World
Trade Center Site.
That was in May of 2002, and now, the

Dennis Haley, who won 3 state
titles at Salem high school, and later
went on to play linebacker at UVa, is

Williams, the 6-5 Sophomore was named
the Big South Player of the week for
his performances against High Point and
Liberty. Williams scored 30 or more in
both games and averaged 8 and half
rebounds. The Psychology major is
averaging over 21 points per game this
season, this is the first time in his
career that Williams has been named
Conference player of the week.
