year-old used a B-B gun to shoot at
several people at a bus stop.
No one was injured yesterday, but
today police charged the boy with three
counts of brandishing an air-operated
weapon and two counts of assault and
battery.
The teen is being held in the New
River Valley Detention Center.

Virginia Tech student with her car and
then left the scene of the accident is
headed to prison.

Gloria Castanon (Cast-ton-yon)
will spend 6 months in jail for hit and
run and driving without a license.
Last February the car she was
drivining hit Joshua Ross as he was
walking in a crosswalk on Main Street.
Ross spent several days in the
hospital with bruised and broken bones,
but he has recovered.
Castanon told the court she did
not stop her car because she was
nervous and afraid.

burglarizing the HomeTown Bank last
November.
Police believe Thomas may also be
responsible for a series of burglaries
that began in July.

today, found teen drivers pose the
greatest threat to other people on the
road.

In Virginia from 1994 to 2004,
the study found 675- lives were lost in
crashes involving teen drivers.
Only 281 were the drivers
themselves.
354 were passengers of teen
drivers or riding in other vehicles.
40 were pedestrians.

sweeping urban renewal effort in the
Gainesboro area.

the Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing
Authority to court and won.
Now, a Roanoke Judge has
fashioned an award totaling more than

covers Claytor's expenses, his
attorneys fees, PLUS interest at
3-and-a half percent.
Once Dr. Claytor pays his lawyer,
he keeps about 385-thousand dollars...
assuming the Housing Authority does not
appeal.

that Roanoke City Schools will NOT
play their high school football games
at Victory Stadium next year.

The school system confirmed today it
has officially asked Roanoke County to
play at their schools next year.
Administrators will meet with county
leaders on Friday.

home tonight skating against Danbury at
the Roanoke Civic Center.
The game tonight faces-off at
7:05 and once again it will be a
challenge for the Vipers who are still
playing short handed with a number of
injuries.
The team is currently in fifth
place in the league with 12 wins and 19
losses.

overcoming some of that adversity after

wrapped up today for the Nextel Cup
cars.
Kyle Busch and Kyle Petty each
topped the 190 mile an hour mark, but
when the cars got together to draft in
a group this afternoon - Dale Jarrett
was the quickest.
Last night Jarrett told us how
his team is trying to re-invent itself
this season to become more competitive
- and it appears they've discovered
there's more than one way to go fast.

GRAPHIC=Virginia Dave Borbely was hired today by
Al Groh to coach the Cavs' offensive
line. For the last four seasons he has
been the offensive line coach at
Colorado for Gary Barnett. His resume
also includes coaching experience at
Notre Dame, Stanford, Tulane, Temple
and Rice. Groh still has one more spot
to fill on his staff.
