GRAPHIC=Hold A Lynchburg man who was stabbed
several times is reportedly in stable
condition today.
22-year-old Bruce Franklin
Cabell told police he was stabbed
during a fight yesterday in the
one-thousand block of Ardmore Drive.

Authorities have made an arrest
in the case.
25-year-old Derrick Damonz Pollard of
Lynchburg is charged with Malicious
Wounding.
He's being held without bond at the
Blue Ridge Regional Jail.

GRAPHIC=Murder Invest. A 44-year-old man was found dead
in his apartment.
Now police in Roanoke want to
know who did it.

It was a friend who discovered a
broken window at the apartment on King
George Avenue yesterday and called
police.
They ruled the death a homicide
and began canvassing the area with
Police Academy recruits and a tracking
dog.
The victim, Donald Lee Seis sice
was mentally challenged, and
occasionally became the target of
bullies and thieves.
He told Pam Mello someone had
broken into his apartment a week ago.
And there was a report of another
incident since then.
Donald's mother says he was so
concerned for his safety he slid a
couch in front of his door at night.
He told people he planned to find
another apartment in a couple of
months.
So far, police report no arrests
in the case.

GRAPHIC=School Bus Accident Several Lynchburg students were
sent to the hospital after their school
bus hit a car.

Police say Bus 57 was headed
north on Eighth Street around 3:45 when
it broadsided a Dodge Stratus near the
intersection with Federal Street.
The children from Miller and
Payne Elementary Schools were mostly
shaken up and eight were taken to
Lynchburg General Hospital.
A passenger in the Dodge was
hospitalized.
Police charged the driver of
the car with failure to yield the right
of way.

The Lynchburg Food Bank says
it's seen a sharp drop in public
donations of food during the last three
months of 2005.
Less than 83-hundred pounds of
food came in, about half what the Food
Bank took in during the same period in
2004.
Officials say the public's
response to hurricane victims in the
southeast may be partly to blame.
They hope local organizations
will sponsor food drives between now
and April to help re-stock the shelves.

The owners agreed to move the
graveyard to a remote location if the
county would grant a special use
permit.

With a budget surplus that far
exceeds projections, Howell said
Republicans will call for elimination

EDUCATION 7 ANIMATION superintendents are calling for more
money.
Yesterday, they asked lawmakers
to support the one and half billion
dollars in new money that Governor
Warner proposed before leaving office.

Superintendent Margaret Blackmon said
the state is making progress, with 92
percent of Virginia's public schools
now fully accredited.

But she says more money will help
Virginia students excel beyond basic
graduation standards.

want a full-year increase in teacher
salaries, full funding of the standards
of quality, and more money for school
construction.

student is now charged with her murder.

indicted 38 year old Benjamin Fawley
for the first degree murder of Taylor
Behl.
Her body was found in a ditch on
October 5th, a month after she
disappeared.
Fawley is already in jail on
unrelated pornography and gun charges.
He will NOT face the death
penalty if convicted, but Behl's mother
says she is fine with that.

the case against Rober Earle Rambo was
murder or self-defense.

35-year-old Rambo was
arrested last July after the fatal
shooting of 39-year-old Anthony Keith
Nance.

Road.
An autopsy showed Nance was shot
in the chest, groin and leg.
Prosecutors say the two men had
argued over a woman, but Rambo's
attorney says he acted in self defense.
The case is expected to finish

GRAPHIC=None Two beavers are no longer causing
property damage in Blacksburg.

The animals were trapped and
killed over the weekend.
Town council voted to get rid of
the beavers last week after a homeowner
near the Heritage Community Park and
Natural Area complained.
According to the Department of
Game and Inland Fisheries it's against
the law to move the animals.
The decision caused quite a
controversy.
It even prompted council to
consider becoming one of the few
communities in Virginia to create a
wildlife management plan.
Town council will start to work
on the idea in the next few months.
